What to do with Tor Exit Traffic

What do you guys do with Tor exit traffic?
I noticed one of my sites seem to be getting a few hundred K per day of this since wednesday.
Google analytics does not trace it, but my own traffic script can see the ip's.
testing - Google Search is the "refering link" and furthermore the traffic has 0 productivity from what i can see.

Should i simply leave it, can it do any harm?

That is seen as proxy traffic, and proxy traffic does not convert and can also get you banned on ad networks if you selling traffic. So best is simply to block it.

well you can check if it has any value by redirecting it to a CPA smartlink (they shouldn't care if its shit traffic because they don't pay unless it converts)

if you can see that it is affecting any of your statistics with anyone you sell traffic to, you should block it or redirect it away from your site immediately

Ok thanks guys. It's probably plain shit. Not even 1 registered click so i'll simply block it.

Yes i was doing that as well, but unable to see remember seeing proxy traffic converting on any CPA smart link.

I redirected it to one of my sites simply to see if its counted but "Realtime" stats in GA shows empty. Same goes for ad networks not counting the hits.

So all it does is causing some extra load on my server, even if redirected.

Yummmmm... i like...

(but not when its traffic)

Yea, Useless traffic. Traffic sellers will think you are generating the traffic yourself. Hackers use TOR sometimes to hide who they are.

Could be people viewing porn from countries where porn is blocked or a competitor trying to ruin your traffic. You did the right thing blocking it.

500.000 traffic with a total of max 2 clicks from 100 ip's sounds more like something fishy.. :disgust

Gonna keep an eye on it....

Well, I do have ip addresses which you can add to htaccess. Not sure if it's blocking 100%.

jamezon 06-10-2020 10:54 AM

tor exit nodes
i suggest to block them all, totally useless traffic, if not abusive ..

Always redirect, never block - Maybe a mainstream privacy type prog that pays %? - Try a few and make sure they are counting hits...

Another idea is a weed site - A lot of tor users are looking to score.....

Ask the affiliate prog first - That's a lot of shit traffic and they might not like it especially if they auto playing vids, loading api's etc...

Nop, proxy traffic simply does not convert. End of story.
