Spammy backlinks
Upon reviewing with ahrefs backlink checker I can see there is a huge bunch of maps.google and images.google backlinks redirecting to my site. How can I get these removed? Not sure if this is good at all for my SEO :disgust

You can create a file with these links and disavow them using google disavow tool.
|
You can disavow if you want though it seems like Google is wising up to negative SEO so no action at all may be fine.

Not sure what you mean exactly by image links in Google.
But if you mean spammy links from websites that use image scrapers. They scrape images coming from your site, post it on their website with the link to your page(s)? I'm seeing quite a few of these lately. All pretty spammy websites, just a few images from different websites bundled together. You can block their domain's IP in your htaccess file, this will stop them from scraping your website. |

This is so called redirect backlinks. It did not do any benefit for SEO.
And it used to manipulate Ahrefs DR. |

in your google search console. there is a google removal tool you can use.
it is not to remove the page of a 3rd party but it would simply tell google that those links are spam. |
Some great minds sharing things I never knew. Thanks guys!
