How do you choose an affiliate program to promote?

I`m just curious what are the main points that you consider before starting to work with an affiliate program?

It is the commission first? Or maybe the power of the product that is promoted?
The payments methods, or frequency?

Maybe you can write them in the order of importance.

Any feedback is helpful.

the power of the product , mainly webcams are converting well , i did not have any luck with any other affiliates.

I always watch out for obvious traffic leaks. With that many programs automatically drop out of my list.

Also important to me:
  • Reviews and experiences about the affiliate program from other affiliates.
  • Payout options.
  • A fast and competent Affiliate Support

If all this is given then I will test the program.
Preferably webcams and dating...

I bet he is thinking about the mainstream industry, since it is a mainstream forum.

Payment method would be strong influence and a niche.

I believe the power of the product would be in level 1 :)

faxxaff 07-01-2020 12:05 PM

Power of product and the reputation of the program.

The product should have frequent rebills.

Many programs have cashflow problems leading to non-payment sooner or later. Weeding out those with questionable rep is important. I often neglected bad reviews and paid the price.

One thing I don't like about your program is that while I want to promote the main SkyPrivate brand, you direct the traffic sent by your affiliates to a fishy domain instead: https://pvt.sexy

People may have heard of SkyPrivate. However the domain "pvt.sexy" with the SkyPrivate logo added to it may give some visitors the impression of a phising/scam/copycat website. Visitors might not trust it to sign up or spend money.

Using a different domain for affiliate traffic also brings up questions about possible tracking leaks.
1. Someone visits https://pvt.sexy through an affiliate link, and looks around
2. A few days later he types skyprivate.com in their browser and signs up there and starts spending
3. Will the affiliate be credited for this signup? Do the affiliate tracking cookies work across domain?

TLDR: let affiliates send traffic directly to http://SkyPrivate.com rather than to some secondary domain

I generally agree with this post and the TLDR. I have raised this issue before.

One thing though: there is no leak. From my experience and past testings, this is a solid program, the cookie is planted on the skyprivate domain, as expected.

Another thing is their support is on point: friendly, available and competent. This is a major decider for me when choosing an affiliate program.

Diomed 07-01-2020 03:27 PM

Actual answer:

Split testing. The only thing that matters is EPC. Whatever niche/traffic.

How do you determine which programs to test? Just the ones that look best from your experience (processing, join pages, leaks, saturation, offers).

I only give a shit about join pages/processing, as typically I only ever link direct to join. Programs can't seem to make a decent lander/front end for the life of them.. Crak had a few noble efforts, but as literal middle men I should hope so!

If the product looks decent, I will try to promote it with my traffic. If it sells, it's a winner. If it doesn't I still promote it because it might sell someday.

NatalieK 07-02-2020 02:10 AM

choice? choose?

you donīt get to choose, the program shall choose you :winkwink:

no, in all serious, Iīd suggest reputation, payments and how well the program sells :2 cents:

I get your concern and i guess we must clear some things up on this matter.

Pvt.sexy is the landing website that we use for the affiliate traffic. It`s exactly as Skyprivate.com but here we can do things exclusively for the affiliate traffic, so it offers us more room to play and improve for this type of traffic alone, it offers us the possibility to perfect it to the max and not affecting anything else.

Yeah, it`s a bit like a compromise but in the long run we think it`s for the better, for us and for our affiliates also.

About the cookies and the visitor possibility to came back to Skyprivate.com after visiting Pvt.sexy, i guess that`s the part where we need to explain better:

The cookie planted is available in Pvt.sexy and Skyprivate.com websites, so if your visitor is coming back to the main site and register, then you`ll have it as a lifetime member. The cookie works for both domains.

I know some things may seem strange but we try to do our best to perfect the program.

We also have our own thread here on Gfy where we can discuss everything you want about Whalehunter.cash affiliate program.

Regarding the cookies, that's good, thanks for the confirmation.

As for using a different domain for affiliate traffic. It's not really needed to have a different domain to serve a slightly different version to affiliates.

- You could check for an affiliate cookie and render a different page if it is present
- you could direct affiliates to SkyPrivate.com/tour1 SkyPrivate.com/tour2 etc for different layouts, like many sites do - looks a LOT better than using a separate domain

I`m glad that the cookie thing is much clear now for you.

And thanks for your feedback regarding the domains, we`ll analyze it for sure.

In other words you don`t rely only on the established programs, you also give a chance to the new one with the idea that they might be winner.
Thanks a healthy approach if you ask me.

the product itself is of most importance!

Test the product and look at the profit.
And search GFY for experiences with them.

Niche and quality of product. Whether I believe my surfers will be happy they busted out a credit card. Does program have a good rep for paying affiliates, not abusing surfers, etc. Do I like them personally. Affiliate support is a factor but is dead last because, like everyone, I like to get good support, but I just prefer programs where I don't have to get support because stuff works and the affiliate UX is good.

1. Does it convert (Doesn't matter what it is, cams, dating, paysite, physical product etc...)
2. See quote above.

Does their site or product have selling power and is it already popular?

sarettah 07-14-2020 05:59 PM

I pick sponsors based on the best contests and whether their rep is in the bro club.

Oh wait, damn, I was having a flash back to 2001.
