Yeah it was pretty boring in the end. Really what I wanted to learn was what industries in mainstream have affiliate programs worth promoting. So many mainstream ones suck. Been promoting them for ages, made a fortune with hosting in 1996 back when that was new.

Affiliate programs are kind of a dead model. You need to get on a couple good CPA networks and find some good reps, and jump between the money niches like payday loans, debt consolidation, nutra, auto insurance, solar, etc
