COVID-19 Caused Custody Battle
A friend had a baby with her boyfriend four years ago. They broke up about two years ago and have had a non-friendly relationship since then. He took her to court for custody and won big time. The kid goes to his house every weekend and two days a week.
Two weeks ago the kid came into mom’s bedroom for a drink. Mom said to “just take a sip from my water bottle. “. She didn’t want to walk her kid to the kitchen because she was comfortable in bed. “Won’t I get corona from you?” The mom assured her that she was safe. The next day the kid calls dad and tells him that “mommy let me drink from her bottle because she doesn’t have corona.” Dad asked her what corona was. “You die from being sick.” The father contacted his lawyer for sole custody. He claims that the kid is too young to be afraid of the virus and mom is scaring the kid with coronavirus stories. My first thought was that the kid should be told not to drink out of bottles that aren’t hers and that’s fine. But can a four-year-old child understand that coronavirus can be deadly? Wouldn’t that kid have nightmares about being sick or mommy or daddy dying? How do y’all handle this situation with your kids? How do you inform them without scaring them? |

People bring their children to church too scare them that they might go to hell if they doesn´t believe in an ancient fairytale. And they must go their whole life to church and pay 10% of their income to save their soul.
Some will tell them we are all going to die due to climate change. Than they start learning to be afraid of nuclear wars. If i had kids of that age i would tell them the government and churches only want to scare them so they pay tax and go to the church every week and take their freedoms away. Than i would learn them what GFY means and that they should say that to the priest and government. |

Sounds like mom was enjoying a bottle of Corona and the story just blew up from there.

i went with a friend's recommendation and explained it as a 'big bug going around' and we had to wear masks to 'help grandma'
worked like a charm |

if the argument for sole custody is 'mom is telling scary stories' actively attempting to remove custody from a parent, due to honest and generic conversations with a child, is horrific and really says a lot about the character of the person in question. In the man's attempt to 'protect his child' via ignorance, the child has learned about it somewhere else. a fantastic job. |

besides, these days, viruses aren´t enough to scare their children, so they take them on protests and throw rocks at police and their horses :disgust |

The agony that children go through when their separated parents refuse to cooperate should cause parents to re-think this kind of behavior. It never does. Lawyers build vacation homes, buy boats, and create wealth for themselves by encouraging hatred and chaos between divorced parents. I've seen people go absolutely crazy with hatred.

I was expecting a punchline...

The kid will realize the truth in a dozen years. My friend’s mom had her at fifteen and never married the father. You’d think that birth control would be taught early. |
