Groningen. Probably not one of the best places to look at :) (although $150 a month for a 3 bedroom appartment is pretty nice)

Pappa 05-11-2003 05:45 PM

Nope.

Gronigen. Or the general area around you - sort of North Eastern Holland. I know I like the area around Amsterdam, but then doesn't everyone? Just trying to get an idea about the more outlying areas before deciding exactly what and where to buy. I have a young family and want to make sure that I provide for their schooling and social needs.

Theo 05-11-2003 06:06 PM

fuck Amsterdam, best case your kid will become a doctor

move to Harlem, we need young blood in the rap scene

Is that Haarlem, NL? or Harlem, NY?

If the former, then I'm seriously considering it. If the latter, not a fucking snowball's chance in hell my friend.

Theo 05-11-2003 06:16 PM

i'll slightly dissapoint you...its NY

North Eastern Holland is mostly flat, wet and cold. Good schools here though (then again, you can find those just about everywhere here), but the people just aren't very outgoing. Cold and rude is how most foreigners describe them, although that might be a bit harsh :)

Amsterdam is nice if you like cities, but it has a rather high crime rate and might not be the most suitable place for a young family. Something like Utrecht would be a better choice, imo, a bit smaller than Amsterdam, but nicer surroundings, better atmosphere, and it's still close enough to cities like Amsterdam and Rotterdam to go there when you want to.

However, the south part of Holland could also be a good choice (e.g. Maastricht). The people are a bit more outgoing and warm there, although it most definitely isn't quite the same as, say, Amsterdam with regards to things to do and such.

I guess it all depends on what you want, do you want a big city, suburbs, a rural area or ... ?

VERY nice info. Thank you loads, I'm going to copy this into notepad or somewhere so I don't forget it. I've added you to my ICQ list by the way and next time you are free (not playing computer games ;) ) I'll hit you up for a chat.:thumbsup

The best soccer player in the world ever, Johan Cruyff, is dutch. Nobody could stop Cruyff. Make sure the kids to start playing soccer!

arg 05-11-2003 06:33 PM

Sure.........

Btw. I'm pretty much used to getting popups in German (and dialers) thrown at me from some sponsors, so I guess your script isn't the only one that asumes I'm from Austria/Germany. Guess it's my ISP that's cusing this to happen.

justsexxx 05-12-2003 02:00 AM

Gives me time outs. And I'm from The Netherlands, Alkmaar city, not Groningen:-)

If you are looking for a landscape area to live goto Friesland, Groningen, Drente. If you wanna live close to, or maybe even IN Amsterdam goto Noord Holland. If you wanna live in a very friendly area with some good fun and also some big cities and don't want to live in Busy Noord Holland, go for the more relaxing one, Noord Brabant. And if you wanna live close to Belgium and German, and still wanna have fun goto Maastricht in Limburg.

Good luck:-)
