how do you consume media now in 2020?

I have the youtube app on my tv. That is all I watch now.

What about you? Nutflix? Hulu? Still use torrents or File lockers?

kuprum 07-24-2020 03:35 AM

What is TV? I have a window. I have a nature... :)

wankawonk 07-24-2020 03:45 AM

Smart tv with netflix/amazon, and the ability to stream media over wi-fi from my desktop machine (which has vpn for torrents and a large external hard drive)

Mostly it's all used to play lord of the rings extended edition on repeat 24/7/365

I just signed up for a free month trial YouTube Premium account - Defiantly keeping it - Much better...

I also use a friends Netflix account - I can't remember the last time I actually watched something on a normal TV channel.....

It's amazing that I have access to basically everything ever produced and I often find myself with nothing that I fancy watching...

YouTube Premium is great. I mostly watch "how to's." I also have access to Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+. Don't watch any of them.

We are now at "media overload" and there is just so much crap, wading through it to find good stuff is rarely worth it. I will usually only check out a show/movie if multiple people tell me about it. It's been a pretty good filter.

I wish it were possible to tell those systems to stop showing me particular titles. Wading through the same stuff I do not want makes me cancel services I might otherwise keep.

Youtube would be my fav hav netflix but never works too many on with coviid will probably ditch it for while have 90% of their content on dvd anyway own 1000s just happen to be the same.

george MH 07-27-2020 03:28 PM

torrents are still Nr.1 :pimp

Rochard 07-27-2020 09:14 PM

Hulu with Live TV and Netflix. We also have Amazon Prime, but mostly because we've had Amazon Prime for years. We also have Disney Plus, but we get that for free through Verizon. We also have Apple TV, which sucks donkey balls, and it's free because my kid uses Apple Music.

It's amazing. At this point we can watch anything we want to watch instantly. Today I watched Days Of Thunder and Quantum of Solace.

Shoplifter 07-27-2020 10:20 PM

Torrents and Youtube for video.

Tidal and Apple for music.

SekobA 07-27-2020 10:28 PM

Lexi BongaCash 07-30-2020 09:08 AM

Just because of no ads or is there other advantages ?

shake 07-30-2020 01:02 PM

Netflix, youtube

Canceled my cable about 2 years ago. Since then I have used Sling and Philo which are both good, but ultimately I canceled them because I was barely ever watching them. Now I only have Netflix and Amazon Prime. For news and stuff like that I just read news sites or watch online videos. I may someday go back to Sling or Philo, but I can't see me ever going back to regular cable. I just can't bring myself to pay that much when I am not going to watch 98% of it.

theS2O 07-30-2020 01:34 PM

Netflix and sometimes torrent. :)

Too be honest I thought it was just no ads, but I seem to be seeing a lot more long form documentaries available as well...

Until you watch YT with no ads you realise just how fucking intrusive they are.....

I like it because of the no ads. I watch a lot of educational videos. When an ad pops up at a random time when you are deep into learning something, it's very annoying and really breaks the flow.

I believe there are some additional perks as well but the no ads is the only one I know of offhand.
