ID For Restaurant Visits
A local town has a rule that you can’t dine in a restaurant without giving them your name and phone number. This is in case someone tests positive for COVID. They can notify you that you might have been exposed.
People are not giving them their real phone number and are using the governor’s office number. They fear that the information will be sold to spammers. If you are called, there is nothing that you can do to prevent this virus from infecting you. It isn’t the common cold with vitamins taking a preventive hold on you. Would you trust your information to a restaurant staff member that may sell it? |
Just get a cheap burner phone / simcard for $5 - Say name is 'Jane Doe' and give them number. They can call number if they don't believe you.
They are happy as they have complied and got your details. Government is happy as they CAN contact you should you need to isolate, and you are happy as you have not given your details away. Simples... |
Happened while I was in Ohio visiting a hair salon a few months back. I'm not one to give out my contact information, but when the reason (COVID 19 tracing) why they were requesting it was explained, I gave them my real first name, fake last name, and a phone number only handed out to absolute strangers.

I just found out that Rhode Island has been doing this for weeks already.
I’d avoid public places until the vaccine is approved in several years. |
I'd give out my real info cause I just never answer my phone if you are not in my contact or I was expecting a call. I check my msgs and call back if it's something I want to respond to.
