Do Adult Websites Still Legally Require Age Gates?
 

Hey everyone,

I'm working on a new website and it's been so long since I've launched a site. Previously I remember it was legally required to have an age-gate. It always sucked for me because I would find that it would negatively affect SEO but I would have them anyways as it was required.

Fast forward to today. I'm checking and most websites I check DO NOT have any age-gate at all, you just go straight in now. Some do though.. Evil Angel for example has one. None of the PornPros website have one though. None of the tube sites have one..

What's the rules around this for 2020, anyone have any idea?

Please expand upon the conditions? Unless we are talking Germany (I think) an 'are you 18' page has never been a LEGAL requirement as far as I can remember and I was here day one of the net so to speak?

It depends where you are. Best advice is to ask your lawyer.

Minimum recommended advice from me is to at the very least include RTA coding on all your pages.

most regulations come from the billers. govt only cares if there's a complaint. i'd shoot an email over to the biller you plan to use.

Ah, I must have misinterpreted the things previously or perhaps I confused it with certain affiliate programs' requirements.
