Stripcash (StripChat affiliate program) stopped worked in NiftyStats because they added a captcha to the affiliate login.

How does it work, where does it pull the data source from?

I am asking because I didn't see a link to stripcash stats raw data. And also, I don't know NiftyStats

One more reason why using captcha is bad idea.

NiftyStats custom codes data downloads for every program.
(Or to be more precise, for every platform. They obviously don't need different code for every NATS program out there).

If the affiliate program has an API, they use that.

If there is no API, NiftyStats will control a browser window in the background, log in, navigate to the stats pages, and extract the data. The hard way.

This is what Strip Chat told Paul from NiftyStats. So start sending them an email to that address, so they see there is an actual need for them to provide an API to Nifty.

Aside from the OP, captcha are a major pain in the ass. I much prefer 2FA for security.

Yep, that is proper way to handle it, 2FA, yet somany networks/ad networks adding captcha and annoying the shit out of webmasters / media buyers.

with you both on being annoyed by captchas (and guessing Carol is on board with us based on her thread), but for me personally 2FA is even worse. I hate using a phone, have two (one is quite spiffy) but they were both hand me downs

one gathers dust as if I'm out I don't want to be on the phone (rock the landline for setting stuff up, or skype when at home), the other I store in a drawer just for 2FA

I can't even use my own number for most SMS, have to use GrooveIP as many sites/services don't recognize numbers from my nation

I get the security value but holy fuck it is so annoying. I've actually dropped non-essential sites and services in the past just for not letting me log into my own account without that crap

no one knows the password on my comp except my parents, I log in via fingerprint, have an excellent anti-virus and anti-malware. at minimum an option to turn that security ish off is preferable

not saying there's no value, I recognize there is. just saying I find it worse than captchas personally

2FA doesn't just mean call/SMS auth though. Software-based 2FA that you can add to Google Authenticator / Authy / etc is nicer and safer. (Because regular SMS/call 2FA is susceptible to SIM swap attacks)

You'll still need a phone though :-)

2FA can be done many ways, not just SMS. First one is google authenticator / authy , which can be installed on smartphone, or you can even install android on some desktop PC and use it there.
Another way is restriction by ip address , but this for some reason is very rarely offered despite being most simply and effective method. And there is some other ways, like fingerprint or facial recognition .
In shortly, is better to have 2FA activated, as captcha is not something what helps with it anyway.

Those things have been done already by multiple people that I know.

The fact is that most affiliates are quite passive. Even if they have a problem, they don't email the program. Some have a lot going on, for some the program is just one of their small earners of the 50 programs they promote, and some are just not the kind who'll bring up problems.

Have you emailed them about it yourself?

In a public thread people are more likely to add a simple reply, and then the program can see that there's a real need for the issue to be solved.

Please fix this!

Seriously though... It's an easy solution. Each affiliate gets an API key and comes in through that. Become an affiliate of your competition. Most of them have this in place. Just saying!

Actually, you are right. Most affiliates are not reporting 'red' programs in Nifty. But if you do so, they used to fix the issues pretty quickly.

I didn't mean reporting to NiftyStats. Yes, NiftyStats fixes everything after a single report.
But when an affilliate program adds a login captcha, the NiftyStats team is powerless. Affiliates have to get the affiliate program to solve the problem, eg. remove captcha or create a stats API.

Unfortunately a single report to affiliate programs is often not enough. They'll only put the developers on a task if they see that many affiliates are affected by it.

API added. Hit them up for a key!
Also go back and delete July 30th in your old account in NS and then start the new one on that date.
