OK Guys - Actual Webmaster Program re blank page in FTP...
So I go to one of my sites to make a small change to the index page. Make change (Just a text change) and upload it to overwrite the page on server as I have done hundreds and thousands of times in my life.
Its uploaded it as a blank page. Although the index.html page is on the server, its Zero Bytes. Empty. So, I take another page from my local site. vids.html and without making any changes to it, I save it as vids333.html and upload that. I should have a duplicate page of vids.html, but no, vids333.html is 100% blank - Zero Bytes - Empty... I tried google and found the exact same thing here - https://forum.filezilla-project.org/...ic.php?t=50300 - Only difference is that was quite some time ago, and Im using the most recent version of filezilla. Any ideas guys? This is BRAND NEW TO ME!!! |

I see you connect to Passive mode, try to disabling it

It was on 'Default' - As you said dont use passive I selected Active. Still no joy. File is zero on server and I get stuck in a loop with the following message. https://i.imgur.com/dbVr1eq.png Thing is, its always worked before and I have not changed ANYTHING at my end - Just totally fucked today. I now have a site down as my main index page is completely blank and I have no way of uploading one that isnt ! |
Was gonna try and download cyberduck, but they have made it a paid product a £22.00 ! Not paying that only to find out it doesn't work... Not a lot of choice for mac and that's where my files are. I may have to try on PC and copy them over...

Why are you using FileZilla? Do you have CPanel?
|
No I dont have cpanel. I'll have to get onto my host I think - It may be at there end - I just tried 'forklift' logged in fine and it said it couldnt transmit the file and logged me out.
|
Im in chat with tech now
|
Even the techs getting timed out - Must be serverside - Thanks anyway guys :)
|
Hope you get it sorted. :)
Been using filezilla for years without problems. You can edit the file directly in filezilla (rigth click (or whatever on mac) on the remote index.html) maybe you manage to change it like that while you get it sorted out? |
Sounds more like a permission problem to me - Or you server is full

check with your host or give details and we'll check.. # |
All sorted now. While I dont 100% understand it (I'm a pornographer first and foremost, a webmaster about 5th or 6th as its a needed skill) I am now on a different port, connecting with sftp instead of ftp so all is good :)

Uses sftp instead of ftp free sftp client here

Plus all my web stuff is on my mac... |
Sounded like a ephemeral port issue. Check the firewall logs for any "deny" when you try to upload, because it could be a problem again
