Costa Rica for webmasters
Is it expensive country compared with Asia, the same Thailand? Is it a good place for adult webmasters/affiliates for long stay? Is it difficult to obtain residency there?
|
Definitely more expensive than Asia. Three month visa on arrival and most people due border runs to Nicaragua or Panama to renew the visa indefinitely.
Residency is pretty easy assuming you have money - make a $60K deposit in a bank there for 2 years or buy a property/business for $200K. In both cases, you can't work for a Costa Rican company (but you're OK to run your own online business). You can apply for citizenship after 7 years. |
If you arent a pussy, consider Honduras (try to visit La Ceiba, a Caribbean port city in northern Honduras)
There are a healthy amount of US webmasters/adult oldtimers living there already. If you make local friends in high places, it can be paradise - if you dont, then you will pay Tourist prizes forever :) I was considering the place for a long time, but I am not the social type, and would end up getting murdered in 3 weeks or less. |
I am spending my winters in Curacao. I don't know why people want to go to some 3-rd world countries with high crime but cheap prices. The good thing about Curacao is that Americans are treated like Dutch citizens there. Can stay entire year, apply for residency, no need for work permit.

Thank you very much guys. Really thinking about try relocate somewhere there, maybe after this covid
|
Costa Rica is very expensive. To live any kind of decent lifestyle you will spend more than in the US.
Do not believe the "live like a king" myth, it isn't 2003 anymore. |
Isn't Costa Rica the place where some of the most prolific scammers and card bangers resided?
|
Yeah it's expensive there.
It would help to know the local language, and yeah also helps if you have friends there already.. |
Let me know if you are looking for real estate in CR

Why donīt travel around and look around first?
I will be going to Panama when covid problems disappear. But thinking also of staying long time in Brazil again. So many options, but i prefer the Americas above Asia nowadays. But that can change when i stay in the Americas for some years and i want some good Thai food. |
they are passing some new law it will allow foreigners to enter more easily...also a "rentista" category for people with fixed incomes or landlords...discounts on some taxes and stuff...life is not expensive if you eat local stuff...if you want to go out and drink foreign drinks, then prepare to spend mucho $$$...I am researching costa rica I plan to do wildlife photography it is my new thing...costa rica is paradise for this...

Next you'll say it's not expensive if you just rent a concrete room with bars on the windows in a cheap neighborhood... |

After 2016 CR got really expensive, the ticas and all. havent been there in a bit. SE Asia is a better value after the covid wave unlocks. CR chicas are some of the best short time girls ive experienced. i've never spent more than 1 week at a time there, in both san jose and jaco/puntarenas. great for dora explorer adventures. i would suggest try el poblado in medellin colombia if you wanna relocate where other nomad webmasters are, cheap, party atmosphere, girls... thing is any country where they speak spanish its gonna be some robbing and violencia going on every day. it wears on you after a while. good luck man

I know very little about Costa Rica but it was mentioned in a good way in this Very Important Movie

The general knowledge of CR is from 20 years ago. If you like protected areas, maybe, since the country is 25% protected biodiversity areas. But if you're not a naturalist, you won't enjoy living there. Basically like Paris, which was good 30 years ago but people still have the idea of the old Paris in their heads.

Any place in the world can be cheap or expensive. If you want to live in NYC vs rural Nebraska the prices will be day and night, much like if you want to live in Madrid vs random some sea-side village, or Prague vs Kouty nad Desnou.
