I don't think it's in the wrong forum. It's news. :2 cents:

There was a sticky post from Klen at the beginning of march, saying "all covid-related goes to the politics&more section"

It's not there anymore, so maybe GFYadmin consensus changed - dont know - party on, its the weekend

datingbanking 10-31-2020 02:43 PM

It is fine occasional thread about it as long it does not flood the section.

Depending how you view it - it does stop explosive growth, but it can take ages before cases going down. Just look at Spain, they made special status until 9 may. Not the mention, the moment you lift it, it will come back.

At the rate things are going in the United States.... It's only a matter of time before we go into lock down.

sandman! 11-01-2020 12:44 PM

This corona shit is going to last another 6 months it seems :(

I expect comments like this from people that live in other countries, but not American citizens.

You should know better. It would take an act of Congress and a Supreme Court hearing for that to happen here.

States rights. It is the reason even Biden has said you can't force people to wear masks.

God knows what is happening in Europe now. Many countries are closing. I wouldn't be surprised if Britain also

not necessarily, as most of the UK have been told, no more handouts. The first time around there was lots of loans and grants for workers unable to work, it ended up as a holiday for most, heading down the beaches and partying once the lockdown ended.

This time, thereīs not a mention of grants, just people with hardly any money and possible lack of food between families over Christmas :Oh crap

Itīs sad times for England at least!

Iīm pleased to have our PM, closure of regions, here in Spain, itīs not lockdown, but you cannot travel region to region, with state of alarm. Therefore, any region with high statistics like England has become, then lockdown can be situated in a region and not the whole country.

If possible, it's better to be locked down in good company ... :stoned

So, England goes into lockdown just as Wales comes out of one. Not a very United Kingdom is it?

I hear you, but TBH, even Americans are surprised to learn the UK is even worse for welfare than many of their states. I explained once to a taxi in Vegas how much you get when unemployed in England, he was stunned.

Business-wise, more and more people getting used to doing everything online, not saying its better, just is. So should help sales wise.

The south and the north of England barely communicate, the anti brexit and the 'gammons' even less.

Scotland decides a lot what it does or does not do and seems to be heading for independence again.

As for the Welsh, no one really cares.

I'm so glad I no longer live there.

As you may or not know, I'm in Devon, which is just 'below' Wales. For the last couple of weeks or so, there have been loads of Welsh people staying in my town. Noticeable from the broad Welsh accents that stand out like a sore thumb.

So no doubt as soon as their lockdown finishes, they will all go home again !

No impact on brexit, although both UK and EU have a few other things to deal with right now...

I don't understand how Wales have been able to effectively close the 'border' with England. I remember earlier in the year when the pandemic took off and wee Jimmy Krankie was suggesting stopping people crossing over from England, and Boris Johnson raged that 'there was no border between Scotland and England'. Now, not only can Scotland close the border, but so can Wales. Maybe Cornwall next?

CurrentlySober 11-07-2020 03:28 PM

In all fairness, its realy 'Lockdown Lite' - Nearly all the stores are still open, all the food places are doing takeaway, kids are still in school, travel isn't prohibited, you can go outside as much as you like etc...

Only real difference is that the pubs are shut. Aside from that, there's no real difference atm... Aside from there being A LOT MORE people all out wandering about...

Which is kinda silly... But there yah go...

redwhiteandblue 11-07-2020 03:30 PM

You can't fly out of the country. I wonder when that little restriction will be lifted.
