Just had my Reverb G2 VR arrive...

First ever headset, first ever VR experience - I'm fucking blown away to be honest. I was just gonna use it for itdown driving sims... But after Half Life Alyx, Boneworks, The Lab etc, I'm gonna have to get a proper play area space set up :thumbsup

Yup, no shit so far... at least not in the headset...

But I'm not 100% sure that I'll be able to stop myself being tempted... :helpme

I don't know much about these but the Reverb G2 VR is supposed to be one of the best, if not the best, on the market according to my well-informed teenage son.

Best bit so far, is in Half Life Alyx, (which anyone who has played it will understand) is that you can look for poo in the dead peoples levi jeans, (Spoiler alert - The dead really DO shit themselves when they die) and hang out in toilets that have flies in them...

I've added a grab of the poo filled zombie and a thexy dirty porta-potty that I hang out in :)

The futures truly here at last !

Im having such a good time I have almost forgotten I need to eat !

Not so sure about the latest game I tried... "Pee Wee Herman's Big VR Adventure"

While I was expecting lots of wacky characters and perhaps a chance to ride the famous red bike in VR... Instead, I found myself in an exceedingly realistic recreation of a seedy movie theater, and following the prompts I was given by the game, I was encouraged to jerk off... :helpme

Needless to say, one of my nurses took the opporpoonity to make her entrance, and shouted so loudly at me, that it broke my immersion... :(

But, like they say, VR really IS "true to life"... :2 cents:

Was actually tempted to get a headset just for the new Star Wars game (squadrons). As it turns out though the game is meant to be a bit of a letdown so...

Yo CS have you ever bought one of those Arcade1up machines ??

Been checking them out on ebay. Seem interesting and fairly cheap (under £400)...

If you really want one, they are at ARGOS for £350 Brand new with Riser... But I'll drop my thoughts below...

But to answer your question, No mate. I haven't. They are VERY small and somewhat flimsy tbh - Need a 'riser' so an adult can stand at it. Even with the riser, its still very small scale, with cramped controls. Heaven help if you want two adults to stand side by side to play 'Street Fighter 2'...

If you are really short on space, and looking for something to get you started, and you are prepared to add a Raspberry PI and swap out the joysticks and buttons etc, then, yeah, they are OK for a toy... But I have a full sized bartop anyway :) You can 'Kinda' See It, in the pic above :)

The structural build of my cab is the same as in an arcade - You could pretty much throw it round the room (If you felt strong enough) and it would still work. However, if you so much as leant on a 1up by mistake the wrong way, it would rip apart :(

Yeah i thought they looked rather flimsy from the YouTube vids i watched. It was the Mortal Kombat cabinet and the retro Star Wars ones i was looking at.

But yeah would like to see one in the flesh first to be honest. Wouldn't want it to just be a quick novelty. It's cheap yeah but still...

Well Id certainly recommend you see one before you purchase one. Its not for me, cause I have a 'real' one, but it may be a bit of cheap fun for you if your gonna take care of it and only use it occasionally :thumbsup

You'll definitely need to put a PI in it though. Cant be stuck with just 4 or 5 games when you could have (Pretty Much) 'every' arcade game available :)

Yeah, they're 3/4 scale, but a couple of my friends got the MK2 one and they love it. It's $300 here, so be careful of Amazon or similar jacking the price to 600-700.

If you want a full sized durable cabinet and don't want to buy a real one, get Raspberry Pi, put Retropi on it, and build a cabinet out of wood. Fun project.
