My Pc Build

I need to build a pc for work, sometimes for editing and coding. This isn't going to be my main pc so I don't really want to spend too much money on it. I'll leave the specs that I want to get with the total price, send me anything in same price range that can compete with this build if you can pls! :winkwink:

CPU : I7 - 9700K $269
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z 16gb 3600 - that's one of the fastest rams at the price $97
Board: AsRock z390 Steel Legend $125 (Love the looks also lets me boost the cpu)
Storage: Samsung 970 Evo 1tb nvme (I need high speed storage) $137
GPU: RTX 2070 Idk yet which brand probably will cost me 400-700$
PS: 650W 80+ Gold from Silverstone $93
The case budget is like $90-$150
In total this build will be around $1500 depending on GPU obviously.

Let me know what you guys think, open to suggestions!

look on the 2nd hand market for a RTX 2080ti - Lot of peeps upgraded to the 30XX series (where available) and 2080tis are going cheaper than a new 2070

honestly a $200 chromebook is all you need these days unless you're doing photo/video/audio editing or coding in an IDE

Yeah :/ I unfortunately need to edit as well, I have a laptop but it's not able to render anything. A 10 minute video takes 40 minutes to render then the pc I will build will do it in 5

Are you overclocking the i7? Because you haven't specced a cooler.

Good catch !

Personally I would go with one of the new Amd CPU’s

Mine it's just a glorified typewriter . . .

you need an SSD hard drive. Here are my laptop specs

i7-10750h
256 gig SSD
1TB SATA
16 gig ram
NVIDIA GTX 1650 Ti

And it runs so much faster than my old laptop

oil cooled machines, with open glass casing are so cool...

pardon the pun :)

yes that is a ssd drive but without knowing what that was I didn't know it was a SSD. Also he was saying he couldn't use a chrome book cause his current machine took 40 mins to process a video that should take 10 so the statement is still true that he needs a SSD over his current setup.

NVMe drives are SSD. :2 cents:

Fair enough. I thought you'd missed it.
nvme is faster than a standard ssd as it doesn't need to use the sata 3 pooticle (or that's how I understand it :)

EDIT: Looked it up to check what I thought.

NVMe is not affected by the ATA interface constrictions as it sits right on the top of the PCI Express directly connected to the CPU. That results in 4 times faster Input/Output Operations Per Second (IOPs) rivaling the fastest SAS option out there. The seek time for data is ten times faster. NVMe can deliver sustained read-write speed of 2000MB per second, way faster than the SATA SSD III, which limits at 600MB per second. Here the bottleneck is NAND technology, which is rapidly advancing, which means we’ll likely see higher speeds soon with NVMe.

I do have a question about using a SSD and SATA drive. if I use a video editor and it saves a 10 min video to a SATA drive.. would it save faster if I saved it to the SSD drive? I figure that because the video editor is on the SSD that it renders faster but if it could do it faster if I saved to the SSD I'll do it.

Do yourself a favour for 2021. Get an MVME.2 drive, plug it directly into your motherboard, (Provided your MB supports it) and work to and from that. LIGHTNING FAST !

My PC boots in 7 seconds from off to usable - Its so fast you won't believe it.

Its 4 X Faster than an SSD. So do it all on an mvme.2 and you cannot get any faster. 2TB mvme.2 are affordable these days, but if on a budget, 1Tb is not much more that 100 Bucks... You'll never look back.

Actually, provided your motherboard supports it (ie is relatively new) order a nvme.2 (Samsung - Like I use) off of amazon. Then plug it into your motherboard.

Do a fresh install of windows (plus editing poogram) onto that drive and boot from it - Using boot menu in bios - and give it a try... That way its working with all your hardware, but not interrupting / interfering with your files / current setup. All your files will still be accessible from the other drives that will still show up as drives...

If you are not blown away, just format it, and return to amazon - No problem :)

Whats the make / model of your motherboard?

why build when you can save $500 off the shelf refurbished:
https://www.newegg.com/lenovo-90nc00...82E16883994684

i've bought several refurbished machines from newegg. saves most of the work. you may need an upgrade here and there.

my main machine is an hp i5 i bought for $100 and upgraded vid card and memory. since i have 4 machines at my desk, i don't like overpaying.
