What is Lbry, Lbry is a protocol, and a bit like a decentralized version of YouTube, and a bit like p2p torrent idea combined with cryptocurrency idea.
After a week of testing I can see Lbry has the potential of becoming main YouTube competitor.
Many Youtube channels already have their full mirrors on Lbry. And more and more migrates because of the youtube's censorship.
In fact Lbry was created to provide an open environment for everyone with no censorship, demonetizations etc.

Lbry has also newer sister clone site front, with a different set of features called odysee.com , but it does not matter to which one you will sign up, your account will work all the same on both. I prefer lbry.tv myself.

Yup, and as far as I understand, the creators behind LBRY idea stacked/secured a large portion of blockchain/coins for the reward program in order to help this idea grow.
Though one can still mine lbry like bitcoins, and keep in own wallet of own choice, just like bitcoins, that no one can ever take away.
The lbry coins stacked by creators are basically gifts to boost development and popularity of LBRY.

If they did not put in place the verification for one to be eligible for the rewards on lbry.tv/odysee.com I can easily imagine how many people in a heartbeat would abuse the system to only get as much free cryptos as possible, with automated bots, etc. and then withdraw to their wallets outside the lbry.tv/odysee

So you might only loose the eligibility to get free coins on those 2 websites, not the coins you already possess in your external wallet, if you abuse the system. Nothing odd or controversial here. :)

Decentralized and porn friendly, it seems so to me.

The only downside I'm seeing so far is that some videos load slow.
If I well understand for now the crew behind lbry creation hosts a copy of uploded videos, but their abilities to provide speedy hosting on such scale seem limited.
And not all people keep a mirror of their files on own hosting solution or own computer, uploading it on request (just like torrents work). Many just publish files via lbry.tv/odysee without providing own back end. I hope this will improve.
