How many of you guys switched to mainstream?

After the Tubeacalpyse hit the adult affiliate industry?

CurrentlySober 02-01-2021 06:29 AM

I started a mainstream side biz back in 03 through to 05, but that was based more on my unique personal situation at the time. I still stayed in adult until 2013. Then I retired.

Me. I'm trying to switch to Mainstream.

Boob Bucks 02-01-2021 01:20 PM

I used to be in MS. But Adult is more fun.

NALEM 02-01-2021 07:17 PM

We did several years ago. No regrets so far.

Mediamix 02-01-2021 07:22 PM

I do both.. :thumbsup

Sly 02-01-2021 07:49 PM

For those of you that have switched, what have you gotten into?

Would be interesting to hear some of the transition stories and how your adult learnings helped or hindered your new mainstream ventures. Personally I'm involved in a few different projects, adult and mainstream, and the crossover knowledge that I get from different industries is really powerful. You can learn one thing from industry X that nobody in industry Y is doing, and implement with nice results.

Mainstream was 10 times easier than adult was in the few years after the Tubeacalpyse struck. All you had to do was get an exact match domain and stick up a few affiliate posts and you would be ranked by Google on the first page. Then Google Panda struck and it was all over. Google Panda also helped the tubes by given so much weight to bounce rate and social media shares.

Never :winkwink::pimp

Andris 02-02-2021 05:43 AM

I worked more than 10 years in adult. Around 2015 I switched to java development. Now doing android development and crypto trading. I have a feeling that work in porn industry was mistake for me. Too much time wasted on low quality projects.

I started a mainstream affiliate company after taking a job at a couple to see what is up. Is going very well. Mainstream is hot in a few areas. Happy to chat with anyone from the board about it.

For some fucking reason I stumbled into 3d worlds in the early 00's, as soon as I realised there was money to be made I did the only thing I new how as a SEO guy, I registered/ brought all the good names and started building content for these 3d site stores knowing their search algorithms favoured generic names. So say you have the name Sword and you have a store with swords... you will come up 1 for searches for swords or did at least till 2020... then they did there first algorithm changes in more than 10 years. I'd already stated getting more into buying and selling 3d content that other people then submit to these virtual worlds.

But here.. chair pull up time. Last year I hooked up a few old adult domains

I still have some adult domains one is fake porn .com so I made an absolutely beautiful baldy 1996 site on it and linked it into adultforce.com, well fuck me I get a check for 250 last month a couple of more joins and a reoccur. That's made it very tempting for me to jump back into .. adult! And go and find myself a 1000 more of those domains.. its only sending 50-200 typeins a day.

it was probably a good base education (and fun).

android wasnt around in 2005, so you would have been doing something dumb like running windows servers :1orglaugh

the fortune 500 team i was on in 2000 was pushing coldfusion. i had to learn that garbage.

we all feel like we wasted time. life is a journey :rasta

That's awesome, what traits do you think helped you accomplish so much in such a little amount of time? You always seemed very focused and relentless.

CaptainHowdy 02-11-2021 03:53 PM

Switching to mainstream for me would mean picking up a buddhist bowl and start taking alms on the sidewalk . . .

fuzebox 02-11-2021 04:09 PM

I have never been able to sell anything outside of adult :(

WiredGuy 02-11-2021 05:11 PM

I flip flop every few years, adult is consistent. Mainstream usually comes and goes quite quickly.

I like it when I ask somebody if they are doing mainstream and they answer yes.

Then I ask, what do you do that is mainstream?

They answer: penis pills and adult dating.

Matyko 02-12-2021 02:31 AM

I will never go mainstream.
I love tits, asses, and pussies.

Well, mainstream is wide term and it can apply to many things. For example, if you say it to someone who doing fetish, for him mainstream will be mainstream fetish things as he doing micro niche. And that word is kind non-used outside adult world.

Applebite Media 02-12-2021 06:45 AM

I've always been mainstream... I have just done some work for adult companies in the past. :)

mce 02-21-2021 03:28 AM

Any others?

lock 02-22-2021 04:36 AM
