hosting dropped

i have a few hosting spaces and when i do not re-new the usual email shows up 'if you wish to continue with your hosting package , you have 30 days or everything will be wiped'

you usually do not hear from them except for spam for newer better packages

i recently dropped a hosting company and every day since a demand for payment with 10 plus extra emails from the ceo demanding payment,

has something changed can they take me to court?

King Mark 02-05-2021 12:13 PM

Do you owe them money?

Ferus 02-05-2021 12:26 PM

If the terms/contract states it auto-renews, then you need to cancel the subscription - you cant just "leave"

I would not be too concerned if the "CEO" is sending you emails. When their lawyer does, then you can worry.

How did you "drop" them? Just stopped paying?

i pay my debts, if you owe money, you should pay the company if they´ve played fair...

i do not owe them, i did not re-new, as i have done many times , if you do not re new a subscription it means you no longer want the service , and in the past you get 1 or 2 emails reminders to re-new sub or we will wipe the server

your link is up submit your clipstore links i will approve them

anyway what you all talking about what hosting company keeps hosting after payday as soon as it runs out they take it down, your domain will point to their 404 page

name one hosting company that gives credit

At least 95% of all commercial hosting-providers will run a credit to their customers. But the hosting you are talking about is consumer-grade in most eyes, and you dont really have a business... sooo... Learn to read the terms and be aware of auto-renewal

you still have to tell them you no longer wish to host with them. Many places say you have to give them 30 days' notice.

Read their TOS next time.

just ignore them. They will cut off your hosting space sooner or later. Most will do so after a week or two, others may play the game for a year ... possibly all this is on autopilot without a human looking at your account or correspondence.

Agreed. :2 cents:

Most hosts don't expect any greater commitment from you than they would give to you, which is quite limited. They're a webhost for fuck's sake, not a landlord.

I have hosting with Namecheap. They sent me a notice to renew. I am not renewing and I don't feel like I have an obligation to notify them either. I've not seen too many hosting contracts on auto-renew unless I opted for it. The same with Performive, when my hosting expires I have no obligations. What you seem to be talking about is some kind of contract and just because terms of service says that it does not obligate you to do shit. Do you have a signed contract by both parties, if not, fuck em and feed em beans?

We don't immediately shut people down. Especially with covid, we've given multiple extensions to those who were facing financial trouble. I don't know how many hosting companies do, but we try to support our customers through highs as well as lows.

To the OP, I think maybe notifying them you're canceling may be a good idea. They may be thinking they're doing you a favor for extending the service and not taking you offline, so a bit of communication may resolve the problem.

Better hope they don't show up at your door with Guido en tow..
