A good laptop for video editing needed

My relative wants a good laptop for video editing
I am sure it will never use in travel so i suppose it may 17"
Budget: 1.5k$
The main requirement: It has to support m2.ssd and ability to use additional SSD disks
Thanks:rainfro

Anything built for gaming would work well for video.

It all depends on what software they are using and it's requirements and the type of video they are producing. The more effects, transitions and so on will require more on the system.

You want at least an i7 processor, 16gig ram, and a really good video card with a good amount of memory.

Best to search Amazon... look for what you need and read all the reviews. Brand names do not always equal better, just more money.

Is this to be mobile and have on set for footage transfer and what not, or as a main editing machine?

$1500 will build a pretty solid desktop for editing. That's my preferred route and I spend a good chunk of my 40 hour work week editing in Resolve or building video deliverables in After Effects.

$1500 budget but need NVMe m2, and you want it to edit and render videos fast... Hmmm
Leave the idea of M2 since any good laptop is already expensive, just get regular ssd laptops.
If you are conservative look for MacBook pro's their new processor is very good for videos.
HP, Lenovo will stand as my next candidates.

Is there such a thing? My laptop adventure ended badly. I bought a used laptop plus a very good desktop pc. Total price $1500+. It looks to me that you would need to pay at least a thousand more.

If you do not need it for travel - go for PC :thumbsup
Price for video editing laptop is really high, especially with M.2

Decided about PC too.

Dell XPS 15 is rated very highly. I've had a Dell XPS 13 for around 4 years, and the only problem is that the keyboard needs a clean out. My Samsung, HP etc. laptops before this one would usually conk out within a couple of years. But I'm going to upgrade to a XPS 15 for the better video editing.

Good choice :thumbsup
Check prices for GPU carefully, now they are extremely expensive due to mining profit :warning
