How many users a tube website could handle with a 5TB bandwidth?

Hello,
for a tube site with embedded videos, how many users a 5TB bandwidth could handle?

You can run your performance testing with ApacheBench (ab).

I need more info to answer your question.

This depends how much videos each user downloads. You can have 5000 users that each download 1gb of videos, or 1 user that downloads 5tb.

Depends on:
- Video format
- Video quality(Bitrate and framerate)
- Content (because average playtime pr user differs)
- Main user region, because people with good internet = caches data faster = more data usage
- Are you using a CDN (based on your question = no)
- How is the site build? is it a modern layout optimiced for caching?

So there are to many unknown to answer your question

Just to make sure. when you say "embedded videos" do you actually mean remotely hosted video so you dont host them yourself? because a tubesite is pr definition with "embedded videos", so they way you wrote it make me wonder if you mean what we think it means.

Not enough to matter. :)

Yep, agree with all the above. Are you hosting your own videos or is it embeds?

Your autism is triggering, of course he meant remote videos, which most programs call "video embeds"

And in that case, you won't need much bandwidth for whatever amount of users since everything non video will go behind cloudflare and the videos are embedded from some third party. Good luck getting and keeping traffic using video embeds.

Easy - It can handle exactly a maximum of 5TBs worth of users and not a single one more.

HTH x

Relax - I just wanted to be sure, because there are so many different levels of webmasters here, speaking 50+ different languages but trying our best to do it in english. The devil is in the details

For embedded videos not much bandwidth is used so you will be safe to start with 5Tb.

I have a site with around 100K unique users monthly and usage is around 20TB

If your not hosting the videos then a ton html and graphics don’t use much.

More than you will ever see if you are embedding from another host. They use almost nothing. That is, however, generally a bad strategy since those will eventually get deleted from the host for one reason or another and you will have a site full of broken links.
