Do you keep back up cables?
 

I have back up cables for all of my computers. In the event any cord or cable dies I have a back up.

Turns out I have one cable, a USB-C To VGA, that I use on my laptop to hook up to a monitor and it died. I didn't have a back up.

Thank god for Amazon.

I used to, but these days with amazon prime, I dont bother...

If something means I cant use one of my computers, I'll just use one of my others and in less than 24 hours a replacement has arrived :)

I don't keep backups but we have enough computers in the office that I can usually find something if it breaks. That being said, for a cable to fail is exceedingly rare. Between all the computers we have at the office, we've had maybe 2-3 power supplies, 2 harddrives and 1 video card fail on us. Never a cable.

Cables are crazy expensive here for some reason - No Amazon doesn't help I expect...

Who still uses VGA? This is 2021 not 2005. Get a new USB C monitor, its great. you can charge your laptop, output video and use the monitor as a USB dock using one cable.

Have a box full of cables for pretty much everything. Left overs from building my own and friend's computers for the last 15 or so years

Absolutely. I've got a box that travels with all my gear that is nothing but cords and cables.

I have so many cables it isn't even funny. The day after I toss them, I will, suddenly, need every single one of them. Take my advice, hoard them, you will need them someday.

I was searching for type-c cable last days and found almost 10 different cables. Mainly from old phones and devices :1orglaugh Not sure I will use any of it at all.

I have a whole box of spare cables.
