Familiar with Sex.com? There might be a way to grab some links and traffic

So long story short I have adult VR website.

I will go to sex.com and make some pins from my video pages in order to get the link to them but they will rarely get a few repins.

I saw someone who is able to upload gifs/videos to sex.com and still link to his website. I don't even know how this is possible I tried a lot of things but to no avail.

Example - https://www.sex.com/pin/61992772/

I tried using the pin from the website from that very page but it doesn't contain this gif. I was wondering if someone knows how this can be done as this has the potential of creating links and traffic.

Cheers

Just my limited experience of sex.com (others may disagree) it's not worth the effort. Admittedly, was a few years ago I tested them, but they generated very little traffic.

Unlike quite a lot of pin sites, where there are usually ways to edit a source/clickthru URL to accompany an image either while posting or after, it wasn't possible when I checked. However, if you upload original image/video from a website, the referring website URL is attached if someone clicks the image.

There was no bot check afterwards to make sure the image/video remained on the site. So you could upload stuff to whatever page you wanted a link to on your server, do the submit to sex.com and then just remove all that stuff from your server seconds later.

Not worth the effort IMO, but might be different for you. Their links are nofollow, so most would say useless for SEO. But not everybody agrees with that. Some argue it's more unnatural for a site NOT to pick up some nofollow links along the way, than to only have dofollows. You won't get penalized for it at least.

PS
Not sure I understand your question about URL attached to the GIF. If you either clcik the GIF on sex.com or hit the "Website" button, you get this pop-up:

"Do you really want to leave Sex.com?
This content was pinned from:

hornywild.com

Click "Go to Site" to see the original site, or click "Cancel" to close this dialog and go back to Sex.com"

If you click the "Go To Website" button bottom right, you'll then go to original referring site. Unlike some PIN sites, just clicking the image won't take you to the referrer.

My biggest site is about 625k / day SE and the link profile is heavily in favor of nofollows.

"Most" are usually wrong about SEO, otherwise they'd have more than a few k / day to their shit little sites. :winkwink:

Yep, that's why I mentioned it. I see people fretting their dofollows went below X per cent. So what? If a site's traffic is developed organically, you have almost zero control over where actual people share links. And a lot of the places real people share adult links - rather than charge for them - are nofollow

My question is how to do that.

That gif is not on hornywild ( it is a whitelabel of Chaturbate).

Somehow they upload the gif and link to a link they want. I am trying to find out how.

Ah, that wasn't clear from your post and I never clicked through to the example domain. Now I see what you're trying to do.

GIF example is too big to upload to chaturbate WL as a logo temporarily and have sex.com grab it as referring URL. But doesn't mean there's some BHW spoof needed.

My guess ... whoever owned the domain originally had content on it, which got pinned, and since then the domain's got pointed to a Chaturbate WL instead.

If getting sex.com referrers to a chaturbate WL is what you're after, you could just swictch the DNS on your domain back to your server, throw up a bunch of images/clips on an index page, pin them at sex.com with that domain as the referrer. Then switch your domain's DNS back to chaturbate.

Unless traffic from sex.com seriously changed over the years, that's more effort than l'd bother with.

They already explained it.

1. Make a site with a gif.
2. Click Pin this.
3, Once it's pinned and linked, change the page to a Chaturbate WL (or whatever).

I'm not familiar with sex.com, but that's how I'd assume it's done, and what I'd try.

But it`s a white label you can't make new pages or change existing ones. Somehow the link needs to be changed

I just told you above exactly how to do it

You own the WL domain, hence you control its DNS records. Change the DNS records to those of your own server/webspace. Throw up a temp index page containing a bunch of stuff you wanna pin at sex.com. When DNS is migrated, pin your shit to sex.com. Two seconds later, change DNS for your domain back to chaturbate's. Wait for migration.

Bingo. You got your chaturbate WL as referrer on sex.com. And the fifty cents it might make you a month, you can bet on the horses.

Are they doing that? Was the WL there more than a month ago? I only checked a few of their uploads but they were posted 20-30 days ago. So they probably just uploaded their stuff, then changed it to a WL.

As JustBiz says though, if you want to do it 'on the fly', it's trivial. You don't even have to change Nameservers, just use Cloudflare and in CF change where the A/AAAA record points to whenever you want to submit a new pic. (ie, have a site that has images, and your WL or alternative site)

Other than that, it's probably possible to do it through code without changing anything, just fake/control the request to the server (ie the URL the bookmarklet accesses). I'm not interested enough to sign up myself, but try something like this and see what happens (try with your real info):

Code:

https://upload.sex.com/pin/button?image_url=https://example.com/dirty.jpg&source_url=https://example.com/thisismyWL&title=Hot+dirty+filth

That is actually quite handy! Thanks.

Any idea how it will work for a video (.mp4) because this works for images ...

I guess it will be just something different than [image_url] but I could not find what:)

ZTT 06-19-2021 01:06 PM

Try the code below. It's the same code, just with &video=1 (you can put &video=0 if it's not a video, or, if as you said the code worked above, just leave it off).

Code:

https://upload.sex.com/pin/button?image_url=https://example.com/dirty.mp4&source_url=https://example.com/thisismyWL&title=Hot+dirty+filth&video=1

If you can put a watermark to your site into the image/gif then you might be able to drive a little bit of traffic with that method.
