What's the biggest problem in adult advertising
Hello GFY community. I came here today with few questions.
First, what do you guys think it's the biggest problem in adult advertising? What it's the biggest problem for the advertisers and publishers when it comes to advertising networks? Do you think that Adult Industry it's a bit behind for the times we are living and with all technologies that are being evolving? |
Well, i would say current biggest problem how a lot of networks are still non-transparent - meaning, you dont see from where traffic is actually coming, only ID. And such thing increase chance to receive fraud traffic.

This. Plus for the publisher's side. iframes and api feeds with a link to live shows for cams. |

Why are iframes and API feeds a problem? |
Shitty low quality fraud publishers. Blacklisting and whitelisting taking too much time and costing too much money until there are no sources left.

not paying with bitcoin.

0.001 CPM is da shit... just saying.

The main problem is low quality , most of users are looking for free videos , the only traffic that convert is organic traffic from search engines.

If the traffic would actually convert, they wouldn't be selling it off for a few pennies but would stick to rev-share offers instead (that's like $2 vs $100 per 1K clicks, so pretty much a no-brainer). Besides that, usually these kind of sites like to add A LOT of ads! Floating banners + multiple textual messages popping up, 1 or 2 popunders, sometimes even another (almost) full screen overlay + another 5 to 10 gif banners.... and all of that on a single page. I bet most visitors didn't actually even click on the ad, but instead did so by accident while trying to close another ad. :pimp:pimp |
The biggest problem is low quality traffic at high prices.
ONE of the reasons behind the pricing (IMO) Is that there's always some guys willing to take a very small margin, who have cashflow...especially where there is volume. They drive up the prices to the breaking point, to the highest possible level they can go...slow and steadily the prices will find their way to that point, because some people can invest $10k daily to make a small return, and they drive the bids up to maximum! So in summary "low quality traffic at the highest possible price" is the reality of the situation. |
For example, let's say you come up with a winning campaign You are getting a return on your money and it's satisfactory to you. Everything looks good.
Within no time at all, 17 people will be copying your campaign, stealing the lander, utilizing the same advertiser, etc. your bid prices are going to rise based on how small a margin somebody else is willing to accept essentially. All it takes is 1 motherfucker willing to pay $xxxxx daily for a small return , and now you have to compete against him. He is going to take the traffic. So when you started, your 25 cent bid that was bringing you 35 cents back.... is now going to cost 33 cents for example. If you were getting a good price on your campaign, it won't last. After going through this scenario multiple times on multiple networks I gave up on media buying and took a new direction lol. I'm not saying other people can't make it work, but its definitely not a game I'm interested in playing. Too many sharks fighting for scraps. Too many people stealing whatever clever shit you came up with lol. |

As a publisher who has about 2m / day (mostly SE):
Advertising networks promising, let's say, $1.5 per k for popunders WW and you knowing that you can do about 1m / day, then somehow those networks only do 350k impressions after a few days. Most ad networks can't handle any real volume. Ad networks allowing dog shit advertisers with legit malware / browser locking tech offers to get through that violate their own TOS/AUP, usually through a small broker that gladly accepts the $$. Ad networks (perhaps unknowingly) promising the world to big sites with elaborate sales pitches then delivering nothing and ending up on that owner's blacklist. ;) |

The advertising networks are over saturated, the publishers have lots of useless traffic which need to convert to cash , hence they sign up to several networks to convert as much as possible.
now from the advertisers point of view ? they want to get quality traffic which can convert to cash to repay what they paid for and make little profit, but the reality that you wont get any conversions and not even free signs up !! on previous years we used to get many signs up and conversions but now a days nothing.. for end users, when they click on website they get tons on ads (( pop up , pop under, banners , text , many others ... )) then he will try to close all those windows and find another decent site. the above scenario is increasing year by year and this will affect adult work, unfortunately this is the reality of porn business now a days. many already declared that their income decreased a lot in the last two years and i think it will continue decreasing if no major changes in porn industry. |
Fraudulent traffic - I shouldn't be spending my time policing the traffic sources to identify bot nets and fake traffic and chase after credits for the garbage traffic.
Identifying the source - If you're not willing to disclose the traffic source (just an ID) then chances are you're hiding more than just the source. Targeting Options - I don't want old device traffic (ie: Android 4.x) and the lack to target either browser specific or OS specific traffic by version means I need to absorb lower quality traffic. I bought some traffic, never converted and never bought again.
And not willing to sell my good traffic for a few cents when i make much more sending it directly to affiliate programs with revshare. |
The biggest problem is it doesn't pay as much as Google Adsense
