Paxum UnionPay Card

I understand from others users experience that there are higher fees and possible a worst currency exchange rate when it comes to ATM withdrawals but can anyone tell me if there are any additional fees for this UnionPay card when you pay online for digital goods (like hosting) in the same currency. On their site they claim it's free "Debit Card Payment in USD currency FREE!" but is it?

I've never got the unionpay card to work online, only able to do ATM withdrawl.

In my experience the currency conversion rate is similar to my bank in canada. Bank claimed to me they only take "2%" but the data says its about 4% lower then standard "mid-market" rates (according to xe.com) and paxum rate is similar to 3 banks I"ve tried here. Everyone taking their cut haha. Right now for example 1 USD is worth about $1.28 on XE but either with paxum or bank I'm getting more like $1.24.

There's no doubt currency conversion fee's really add up, but it's just the cost of doing business with paxum, or in my case the major canadian banks.

All in all I am very happy with the card personally but wish the monthly and yearly withdrawl limits were much higher. It's hard to successfully make purchases with the card so most of us purely use it to cash out, and the annual limit is 100k which isn't really that high.

Thanks for your feedback mate. It's been few days now since I've activated the card so I can share a small feed back on my own now. The currency exchange fees are definitely higher than previous Paxum card. I could hardly find someone to accept my card online since all the US or EU companies are not interested in taking my money from it. It's also impossible to associate it with Paypal even if I found some old news online claiming that this thing would be possible. The Paypal pages in cause are now redirecting showing errors. I've managed to make two payments using it and there were no fees associated but I was charged with $0.25 fee for a failed payment. If you will try to use it try to have some cents over the amount paid in you card balance because let's say you pay for $10, they will initially charge $10.01 and will return $0.01 after the payment is completed. I was making some tests and tried to use the entire card balance to make a payment, that payment was rejected for this reason. My conclusion, this is the weirdest card I had in years. Apply for it only if you have no alternative but I don't think you will be able to use it to pay for goods or services provided by US or EU companies.
