I doubt Martin Luther King Jr. had it in mind "free at last" that Britney Spears fans would be screaming it. It's all I can see on TikTok and other social media. Like has this really been the main case we're all hoping to win?


Britney Spears is now a free woman, because the judge has swiftly ended her conservatorship ... effective immediately.

The judge terminated the conservatorship without requiring any further mental evaluation ... something Britney was adamant about.

The hearing started with Britney's lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, quoting Britney's June testimony ... in which she said, "I just want my life back."

The judge then went around to all the lawyers and others assembled both in court and online, asking them whether they had any objections. Not a single person -- lawyers and all -- had a problem with ending the conservatorship.

Well she is about 39 years old if not 40 - so time hasn't exactly been gracious to her - her make up and wardrobe people have tried to clear that up.

Yeah same sort of concept but extreme.

Goes without saying - people watched that then suddenly you had everyone from crazy's threatening the family to celebrities jumping in with their opinion. The world didn't care but sure as hell America did LOL - which I'm sure brought pressure. I think I even heard of a letter sent to the judge from Washington about it

Thanks, I didn't really know anything about this Britney thing, and whenever I saw it on the Guardian just assumed first world first world problems, but reading about "conservatorship" reminded me of that film.

Thought the film was pretty good, though dragged in the second half, and since the premise is so unusual and unknown to most people I'd have preferred if they'd focused on that rather than what it ended up being.

I was never a huge fan, maybe I liked a song here or there.

For some reason I thought she was older than she was.

Good for her. Dad sounds like a real POS.

I wasn't a fan of the early stuff but I was surprised by Blackout and there are a few on Circus I like, as well as some random other ones from various albums.

I used to have that impression about ten years ago, when she was still in her late 20s, because she'd done so much and become a megastar at about 17.

On the other side of the coin, whereas Britney is 'just' 39 now, in the year Blondie had their first number one, Heart of Glass, Debbie Harry was already 34.

She will retire soon, so she will use her money travelling WW :)
