Question for anyone with an Xbox Series S...

Upon initial setup, is it absolutely necessary to use an app on your phone? (As described in the official Setup Video) If its possible to do it without, what benefit is it to have the app?

Hoping to scam one tomorrow, so I want to be prepared...

Spanks !

You don't need the phone app, it's just there as a convenience.

Yeah no phone required for my Series X. I bought 18 months of Game Pass Ultimate from a group im in for £30. Cracking deal as it gives you Xbox live, all Gamepass games and even EA play. Its actually a profile you add to the console separately from your main account. Iv just set it so both accounts log in on start up its awesome. Give me a shout when you get the Xbox and il get you into the group mate

How do you like that new Xbox? I threw mine out 2 years ago because it was fucking with my work but I'm thinking about buying one for my kid.

Im a Playstation guy always but i will say this, that Gamepass blows anything Sony are doing out the water. Over 100 games just ready to play. The Xbox studio games like Forza and Halo also come out on it day one which is insane really. Graphics on that new Forza that came out the other day in 4K are some of the best iv ever seen. You can also spend $20 on an Xbox developer account which then lets you install Retroarch so you can play all the retro classic consoles like the Megadrive and Snes if that's your thing. Playstation have also put PS5 games up to £70 in the UK (not sure of American prices?). Hard to justify that when Xbox Gamepass offers so much value for more. Id def recommend it if your kid likes gaming. If your a PC gamer, the graphics in the Xbox are equivalent to an Nvidia 2070 PC graphics card. You couldnt even buy a 2070 for £450 (price of the Xbox Series X) in todays climate never mind the rest of the PC so it is good value for money

I got a deal on three of these yesterday. Putting them in each of the kids' rooms.

Now need to track down an X model for the living room.

Crazy they're still in such short supply a full year later.
