Who has domain name sales happening today?

It used to be you could find discount domain registrations everywhere, I'm not seeing any decent offers on new domain registrations today anywhere :helpme

ZTT 11-25-2021 09:52 PM

.com now has a wholesale price of $8.39, but Namecheap currently has:

$6.16 for .com

Dreamhost are selling for $5.99 (not sure if it's that BF price or some other offer).

Nominalia has 1 Euro .com.

Etc.

You can check this site, which is usually up to date with running promos:

https://tldes.com/com

Be aware that the cheapest may have policies you don't like, like maybe fees to transfer out, high re-registration, ID requirements, no whois privacy, etc.

Yeah I snagged a couple from them last night for $6.99 :thumbsup

Its craziness though, I remember when you used to be able to go to almost any registrar and grab a handful of $1 or $2 domain names, seems those days are long gone :Oh crap

ZTT 11-28-2021 11:51 PM

I'd love to hear more about the mythical era when virtually all registrars were charging $1 to $2, but in my post above there are five registrars with prices under $3, and 15 with lower prices than the $6.99 you paid at Namesilo.

You never used to register $1.17 .com domain names from places like GoDaddy? HostGator? Directnic? 1&1?

You missed out :1orglaugh

Heres one from 2014 for $1.49.

My first names were from internic in 90's and they were about $70 in the olden days when all the good names were already taken. Those dollar days were to stimulate.

Well firstly, you're the one who missed out, since I posted 15 different registrars with lower prices than you paid at Namesilo.

Second, of those you named, Godaddy and 1&1 were the only companies routinely selling "$1" domains, and only with coupons and/or strings attached.

I used DirectNIC 20 years ago and their prices were $15/year, which was a huge improvement over what came before, $35/year with a minimum of two years, but was seriously undercut by more and more competitors like Namecheap and Namesilo.

The "cheap" in Namecheap refers to $8.88, which was cheap at the time, and Namesilo had frequent promo prices of $6.99 or $5.99 (can't remember which now), and a one time $1 off coupon, nothing like $1 or $2 per domain.

The fact that you're just repeating Godaddy again should be enough of a clue that "almost any registrar" was not selling names for $1 or $2.

that's where I have my stuff registered. adult-friendly, no fuss, no muss. cost for a year is approx the cost of a pack of cigarettes

considering moving my domains to Vacares (Ryan is so awesome) but not sure if I want to combine domains and hosting. (if you're not hosting with Vacares you should)

but plus one on Namecheap. their prices have actually gone down since I've been with them

Yup.. remember that.. I was too young to have a credit card but NetSol registered it for me and then sent out the bill :thumbsup

Wow.. time flies.. :(

"olden days when all the good names were already taken." - also a lot of crap was registered too haha... kind of like now with all these new gTLDs.

Alex21 12-02-2021 08:18 PM

You can try web.Z.com - credit card only I think but you can turn off auto renew and EPP code is easy generated.

They are owned by GMO in Singapore and are ICANN Accredited. Not bad for $4.90USD/.com

I registered a few with them and they seem ok...

Otherwise.. I like Sav.com and they have a nice marketplace too :thumbsup:2 cents:

Brian mike 12-02-2021 08:38 PM

Godaddy having a sale $0.01 per domain. READ the fine print before buying :2 cents:
