Kingsford Bbq Briquets ...Let's discuss all things BBQ

Happy Holidays All !!!

Has anyone else noticed that Kingsford Bbq briquets are not what they used to be? They seem to be burning a lot fast then they did a few years back. I am assuming whatever mix they are using now is cheaper then the previous recipe. Even though the cheap briquets seem to take longer to get going they really last a lot longer then the new Kingsford. Using the a chimenea started makes it Alot easier and faster. I have also noticed Kingsford does not quite smell like it used to when burning. That was half the draw to begin with ! Now that the smell is gone ,for me using the no name store brand is actually better.

What is everyone grilling for the holidays?
Smoker?Charcoal?Gas?

On my charcoal smoker I still use the Kingsford blues, available everywhere. Usually the wood I add is more important, haven't noticed them burning faster but I'm in a colder climate.

It's gotta be a special occasion to fire that up though, I do 99% of my BBQ on my pellet grill.

The convection oven is a totally different topic.

I used to use a charcoal BBQ 20 years ago and the Kingsford bricks burned for over an hour. Seemed to take forever actually, it may have been longer.

The meat used to taste like bbq food is supposed to taste. Since then I have been using gas bbqs for convinience sake.

Now 20 years later, I finally bought another charcoal bbq, a Webber, and am amazed how quickly the briquets die out. And the flavor is good but not the same as it used to be.

I use a Traeger now, so don't really have much recent experience with this.

But you could easily do a quick search and see that they changed the recipe a few years ago..

Its amazing how many people purchased the air fryer not realizing thats exactly what it is and, most of them already have a huge convection oven sat right in their kitchen :1orglaugh

My grill is a regular wood or charcoal. We cant get much good stuff to burn sometimes so when I see something good I grab as many as I can. Average grilling about 1 time ever 2 weeks.

Right now I have some kingsford and I feel the same. They are now kind of crappy and a bit pricey. ( Imported I think )

The local sold Charcoal is wood they burn in some field and throw in a bag for sale. And its Hit and miss on getting chunks or dust.

All those fake coals make everything foul burn some real hardwood down or just use gas bbq but those coals make everything like kero.
