I often (of-en) make important (impor-tant) announcements (a-nnou-nce-ments) about pronunciations (pro-nun-ci-ations).

You drop the T in often? I hear the T dropped in important ofen

If I say it outloud and deliberately drop the 't' it sounds like I'm trying to do an american accent.

It's pretty common in American culture for the T to drop. I hear it all the time even on TV and in the media
