It's been suggested that since this is a prequel to the movies and there are no black elves in the movies, that at some point some kind of "ethnic cleansing" took place in the shire. Amazon seems to have inadvertently introduced an elf holocaust into LoTR lore...

I don't have a problem with adding black people into the world, but when the roles of characters are getting too much changed from the original (like Galadriel maybe), i would not like it.

I didn't liked the trailer also, but I will not have an final opinon without seeing the first episodes/season.

Don't forget Jackson also changed A LOT and the movies also where CGI fireworks. So some arguments makes no sense - except u hate the Jackson films also.

Did u know, that the Elves did not come and help in the battle of Helm's Deep and Haldir did't die there?

Did you know that Glorfindel saved Frodo from the Nazgûl, not Arwen? And that his role is pretty important and was just ignored in the films? Also Arwen was a very small side character in the books and was blow up to a main role in the movies.

Did you know that there is no eye from Sauron on the tower? Tolkien always mean it in a metaphoric way. Jackson just made it for the movies.

Did you know that there where A LOT of more battles all over middleearth in the time of the LOTR movies? Sure they can't be all in the movies (just cause of time), but we also did't get any informations about the actual situation in the world.

Did you know that Legolas was not a fighter who always did some crazy funny stunts like we saw multiple times in the movies?

Did you know that Sarumans troops have occupied the Shire and the Hobbits did not return to a friendly home sweet home?

Did you know there was no fight between Gandalf and Saruman in the tower?

Did you know Faramir's character was changed very hard in the movies?

Did you know that Frodo is fukn 50 years old? He don't had the ring before, so why he looks so young in the movies?

We are talking about interpretations of a fictional world and not about real life history facts.

You can take it like this: Tolkien never said there are no black elves, drawfs, hobbits and so on - so it's not wrong.
There are black people of human in the south, the world is not finished at all so it's not nonsense to assume also black variants of the different races exist.

So far all black people are the bad guys, to change this is an acceptable way to make the whole world a little bit more round and realistic.

YES I am aware of the changes in Jackson's films. So what? Sometimes works of fiction need to be re-interpreted for the visual medium that is film. Hollywood WILL take liberties - but if they are consistent with the overall tone of the original work than it is acceptable.

The Lord Of The Rings was, for decades, an impossible film to make. Then technology improved enough (and Jackson even invented some) to make the sprawling epic. To film all three movies at once, over two years and $300 million total, was impressive and unprecedented.

But to race and gender swap characters, taking them from the white British-inspired 'alternate history' of England and turning them into a multi-cultural woke mess is the problem. No one likes this shit, not even the multi-cultural woke mob it's meant for.


Wrong. Tolkien DID describe the various races of Middle Earth and in great detail. If he wanted there to be black dwarves and elves and gay characters guess what? He would have written about them! Sorry no, Tolkien did NOT want his work bastardized or added to. His family had issues with Jackson's omissions and additions but, overall, his films are masterpieces (The Hobbit notwithstanding ugh).
