Let's Helping Ukrainians

From last Monday I'm helping Ukrainians that arrive at the Polish border of Medyka leave the war and relocate them in European countries.

While I'm supporting the operation 100% if any of GFY community want to send help, I'm more than happy to accept any help which is much needed.

What I'm doing and need!

I Have 4 persons helping right on the border giving a warm welcoming, then they give hot drinks and food after Ukrainians cross border.

We two minivans that drive back and forth daily from the border to Czechia - Praha that I have rented. For the ones that have no place to go we have families available to accommodate them in Czechia and in Portugal or if they have already somewhere to go we arrange transport from Praha to their final destination.

What I'm mostly in need of you want to pitch up.

Warm blankets
Baby powder milk
Powder chocolate
Coffee - Instant coffee
Barley coffee /drink
Cat and small dog food ( Ukrainians love their pets)
Baby food

Above items can be bought online and have it deliver on our offices in Praha Czechia or Porto Portugal contact me for delivery address.

A few minutes ago our border guard service tweeted that between Feb 24th and 15:00 today, 706,3k refugees crossed over from Ukraine.

We are not going to have anywhere to put these people soon. There are so many people here that it is now almost impossible to rent a flat in Wrocław and we are on the far western side of the country near the German border. I suspect it is no different in other cities. A bunch of people took women and children into their homes in our village.

This will put huge pressure on society, and that will come with an increase in costs. And I am sure I don't need to put this all down into details, we are all in this.

But I am sure you feel that shiver down your spine too, like me and many others. This is far from over, and whatever is going to come, it will be unexpected.

It will definitely increase costs because demand for rental properties will go up but generally speaking we have a huge Ukrainian population here already and they have little problem integrating because both are Slavic nations. Even the languages are to some extent mutually intelligible.

It would be nice if the USA could take all the Ukrainians.

Ya I see that. I assume for many it's just total chaos until people can arrange flight out from Poland to next destination.... I am sure people who have passports can book flights. Other Countries have exemptions in place and emergency Visas. What's sad is some of my friends in Ukraine did not have a passport and cannot even get one now everything is closed obviously.

90% cannot take normal/regular flights because

1 - They receive an Asylum visa at border with refugee status which is not good to fly out from Poland.
2 - To fly now in Europe a valid proof of vaccine is needed or a PCR test which are valid for 48 hours and most Ukrainians crossing border don't have.

Only way out at the moment are special trains that Czech Railways provide and they run twice daily from Medyka to Praha and or buses that carry them from border into some Polish towns.

There are trains now to and from Lviv to some Czechia cities that bypass the border this trains will run 2 times daily until conditions will allow it.

They let in Ukrainians into Poland without passports. Apparently they make them write something in cyrillic on a piece of paper as proof.

Correct any paper will do to enter, I Transport a old lady that crossed with a birth certificate from Soviet Union era. If no papers they must prove they are Ucranian usually a few oral questions are enough.
