How much traffic did this forum lose over the past 10 years?
I remember 10-15 years ago this being one of the biggest forums out there...not just adult...if I didn't get a reply to a new thread within minutes, the whole thread was on page 2 or 3 very soon...now I see older threads even on the first page. What happened? This wasn't just about adult...it was mostly just general discussion about everything. Don't tell me people spend their time outside the house now.:upsidedow

There are better things to do than post on the forums.

if epass survived nobody would be gone. paypal is processing payments on sum good sponsors. the structure was changed... i thought that was a big mistake

The wealth was shared now funneled so when there were more pieces of pie more interest. AVS ending and Visa card screwing with merchants over such a long time period screwed everyone.

Yeah but why isn't GFY as popular as before? Nobody has really answered that question.

Even before, 90% of the people who were here were not working in the business... |
To be fair, all web based forums have lost most their traffic to reddit and facebook groups.
A lot of the people who were very active from 2001-2007 have either moved to other industries, started larger companies, and have probably grown up and are over it. A lot of the guys who were posting hourly 15-20 years ago are married with kids now. |
Once these clowns got fixated on Trump and couldn’t accept real life. They ruined this place by the rhetoric.

The business started to go downhill really fast once all the tube-sites launched. There's still something that sell tho, like live cams and sex toys, but money isn't as easy as when everyone just had photo TGPs and submitted galleries. |
Time changed more lurkers who do not post

Plus, by joining up and pretending to be 'In The Biz' they got to feel part of the porn business. That they were 'Behind the Curtain' if you like... One of the gang... They got to feel that you were somehow 'in' the porn business themselves. Not just a customer... Well that's all gone away these days, as have the freeloaders...:2 cents: |
Most people post on the top secret invite only forum run by Jason.

Everybody's lurking . . .

I think social media has changed how people interact online.
The ratio of original content (good thread posts included) to trolls and copycats has tilted in a less meaningful direction. One big plus still though with GFY, as compared to "big tech" social media, is that there is no muting or shadow banning BS. Every post gets out there, and even the ignore lists are public - as it should be. What could we do to make this a more popular forum? |

Hit the nail on the head. In addition to CurrentlySober's point - yes there was an influx on non-industry people along with the realization that posting/banners etc. on GFY just wasn't working anymore and rep's were desperately attempting to reinvent themselves since they had social networking down to a science but started loosing webmasters who just stopped using affiliate programs for the most part. Now it seems programs are in a holding pattern trying to keep their webmasters as happy as can be yet few wanted to say those evil words "tube sites" as to where traffic has gone. Now than spend money on boards - we use tube sites and social media to snare clients along with stronger usage of SEO techniques that are different than 10 years ago. |
