we reverse engineered aol 3.0
"omg off topic"
don't care check join date check it out though fellas - a canadian dude named "zip" reverse engineered aolserver with the help of an old hacker named godsmisfit's research: https://web.archive.org/web/20201030...olprotocol.txt - and from there he was able to emulate aolserver to the point of accepting new sign ons, the welcome form, chats, buddy lists and instant messages so i sent that motherfucker semi-viral on reddit and hackernews yesterday and landed 30k unique views to https://g.livejournal.com/10829.html which is really just a funnel into our discord server have some screen shots https://i.imgur.com/PcELBag.png https://i.imgur.com/iuomsh4.png then i shit you not - someone fucking reverse engineered our reverse engineer and made an aol 3.0 client in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TempleOS https://i.imgur.com/2dOWNhA.png our discord is .gg/reaol if you want to find us :pimp anyway, how do you guys recommend i promote this moving forward? obviously lightning won't strike twice on hackernews and the big subreddits :helpme |

Find retro / nostalgic YouTube videos, talking about AOL. Drop a comment that 'Its NOT gone forever ! Its back !' and drop a link... That video above comes from a channel with 161,000 subscribers - and its had 120,307 in the last 2 weeks... Find a few more videos like that, and there's a HUGE potential audience to be reached - Even if you only get a very small percentage, that could still be numbers in the thousands, who would start the ball rolling... Personally, I dont share any AOL nostalgia with you personally, as I wasn't in America at the time, but I get what you are doing, and think its pretty cool :thumbsup |
I cant wait to load a thousand chat bots into this shit.

Good luck with your project, you'll have to tap into the retro computing scene somehow, although TBH I'm not sure how. It's not like you can put CDs in magazines like AOL used to.
