Fina bars transgender swimmers from women's elite events if they went through male puberty
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/swimming/61853450 Fina, swimming's world governing body, has voted to stop transgender athletes from competing in women's elite races if they have gone through any part of the process of male puberty. The new policy requires transgender competitors to have completed their transition by the age of 12 in order to be able to compete in women's competitions. Fina will also aim to establish an 'open' category at competitions for swimmers whose gender identity is different than their birth sex. The new policy, which was passed with 71% of the vote from 152 Fina members, was described as "only a first step towards full inclusion" for transgender athletes. The decision was made during an extraordinary general congress at the ongoing World Championships in Budapest. Earlier Fina members heard a report from a transgender task force made up of leading figures from the world of medicine, law and sport. "Fina's approach in drafting this policy was comprehensive, science-based and inclusive, and, importantly, Fina's approach emphasised competitive fairness," said Brent Nowicki, the governing body's executive director. Fina president Husain Al-Musallam said the organisation was trying to "protect the rights of our athletes to compete" but also "protect competitive fairness". |
oh no.......................

Sounds fair to me.
This site outlines it nicely... https://boysvswomen.com/ with time records. Highschool-aged boys are able to out-compete olympic-level female athletes, thus it seems extremely unfair to allow transgenders to compete in female sports. If there was not a very clear difference in strength between the two genders, we wouldn't have women's sports at all to begin with. I mean shit, i'm a bit chubby but even I have more muscle mass alone (according to one of those smart scales) then the entire body-weight of my wife. |
I think we will see an uptick in kids being pushed to transition by or before the age of 12. Which is the age accepted by the new rules.
I think an "Open League" is also a very good idea. Let everyone compete while allowing for fairness and wellness. |

There should be a separate category for transgender competition

Well, they want to swim so let them. At least FINA shows they still care about biofemmes. |

Furthermore, I don't see what the problem is exactly. it was FINA, not me, who formed a tranny league thinly veiled as a 'open league', and if this is "nonsense" then why have we all been labeling trans porn as trans porn on websites for the decades instead of just calling it straight porn? |

Elon Musk’s transgender daughter has filed a request to change her name in accordance with her new gender identity and because “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.” Musk has weighed in on the issue of transgender people choosing their preferred pronouns, tweeting in 2020, “I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare.” |

I was thinking maybe they could try to do it like boxing: weight classes, size, muscle mass testerone levels? |

Muscle mass based boxing wouldn't work either. You can have two people with 30kg muscle mass, one that's 70kg total and one that's 150kg total and when that 150kg guy lands a punch it's all over. |
can I swim?
