Is PornHub on the ropes?
It seems they have laid off 70 per cent of their staff and it is not looking good.
Pornhub, the massive pornography site owned and operated by MindGeek, has laid off an unknown number of staffers, according to social media posts. A rep for MindGeek declined to specify the number of employees who have been pink-slipped. The layoffs at MindGeek came as the company said CEO Feras Antoon and COO David Tassillo resigned in a leadership transition was in the works since early this year. Antoon and Tassillo will remain shareholders in MindGeek. The shakeup at the internet porn giant follows the New Yorker’s publication of an investigative piece last week on MindGeek documenting how Pornhub has hosted sexually explicit nonconsensual videos — including those with children — and that several of the people in those videos spent months trying to get the site to remove the material. In addition to the two executive departures, MindGeek planned to lay off “a number of its staff, in an attempt to cut costs after suffering revenue declines over the past 18 months following a series of revelations that MindGeek had allowed child sexual abuse material and other nonconsensual videos to be posted on Pornhub,” the Globe and Mail reported Tuesday. Both Visa and Mastercard have cut off payment processing to MindGeek, according to the Globe and Mail report. |
oh no , oh no .....

The entire tube site concept needs to die out already anyway.
It turned making porn videos into a waste of time. :2 cents: |
Good news. Its the beginning of the end for that miserable industry.

here comes another paysite gold rush :pimp
question - how do we get their traffic? tubes (aka thieves) basically own every adult keyword on google. # |

If all paysite owners united and removed their content off these tubes and created their own platform where their promo clips would be exclusive, the tubes would lost most of their content and traffic. Now that they all need to verify their uploaders and review uploads the amount of pirated stuff on them dropped a lot and they could not replace the content with "user" uploads (pirated files) - those that they were all built on - since thieves won't give them their personal details. They would have to rely on mostly anonymous videos from amateurs and also their own studios which, of course, would not be enough. This would cause them a big loss of positions on Google for all those paysite KWs they are leeching on. :2 cents: |

The question I would have is why have so many staff.
However, porhhub is now a brand and if the pornhub tube starts to make huge losses (they may still be making a profit, but I presume running the site is expensive), then I suspect they could easily turn it into a small site, as a sex blog, promoting the sites they have and selling clothes and sex toys (branded with pornhub). Or with a budget, turn pornhub into a free or pay online tv (like Netflix). It would be interesting to know how much they make from the sites they have. They could do what some sites have done and turn pornhub into one huge porn site with ALL the content they own. |

In truth, many put all the eggs in one basket and relied on porntubes for most if not all sales. One wonders now porn tubes are not all having links to the paysites, if (I suspect they are) pornsites are loosing money. |

The simple solution to this mess, is to stop all user generated content. Only contractual content that is vetted for legality should be allowed. I wouldn't shed a tear if every "uploader" crashed and burned.

Pornhub for me is the XXX YouTube. Performers use it for traffic to their OnlyFans accounts ;)

They get kicked out of Visa & MC, changed the things that where a problem, but still are punished?
So why not just go back to the old system and focus on their ads? I assumed the reason for the changes where cause they want to be back on Visa&MC. |

If Pornhub traffic decreases, then other adult sites expect an increase in traffic.

Pornhub fired 70% of their people.
Could be smart with the coming recession and VISA problems. |

I'm sure the new COO looked around the office and realized 70% of the people there were expendable.
Mindgeek will do just fine. |

PH may be on the ropes but the backers likely already have a backup plan. Keep in mind this likely isn't the end since other tube sites doing the exact same thing are still operating and not being watched. Xvideo's I believe has already taken over in traffic from PH and other tube sites eg. incestflix (I think) do the same or more to stealing content and suggest under age content.
