How to use Paxum card properly?
Any suggestion on how to use Paxum Union Pay card properly when buying stuff?
Because It is denied most of the time, sometimes even on the same pay spot where I've paid a day ago. So, considering it is not a contactless card, what's the first thing to use, a chip or a magnetic strip? |
Guess not many have been blessed with a physical, working Paxum card . . .

I don't have a Paxum card at all.

The thing is, if the POS accepts UnionPay card at all.. |
ATM, repeatedly, until your balance is empty.

I remember the nearest ATM that would accept my paxum's union pay card was conveniently located not in my country.
Luckily it didn't really matter because they never send the card after paying for it. But they did go the extra mile for me. They kept charging me card maintenance fees. So props to them for making sure my card was in good shiny condition when I was unable to |

I applied for a card some years ago, nothing ever happen.
Tried to apply again now, let's see what goes. Did anyone actually receive a card recently or is the whole function just for show? |
Any new ideas what to do with this card?

I never dared to use either epass or paxum card for POS transactions since you never know will it work or not.
|
In the EU, this card is practically unusable. I have only one bank that accepts the card, so if I decide to use it, I have to look for an ATM of that particular bank. It's still an alternative if you need money urgently and don't want to wait for a bank transfer.

In europe, usually all EuroNet ATMs work - except of course - the sole unit in the city where I am vacationing right now.

Fyi, I believe the Paxum card also still works as funding method for Wise.

here in Serbia which has good connections with China, you can see union pay in so many stores. National bank ATMs work just fine but I had strange situations, for example:
I've recently paid for a meal in KFC. Minutes after I was charged, the manager came and said they don't know where to store transactions because Union pay was not on the list. So they had to a refund even if the card worked fine. Also, I was paying for gasoline all the time and suddenly card won't work anymore. I've asked people working there, are those new POS terminals, and they confirmed. They also showed me some new card systems accepted now but I've never heard about them before. What I've figured out is that the card will work in-store depending on which bank is doing card processing. |
