Finally got a half decent internet speed! At Last !!!
https://i.imgur.com/AoQuwcY.png
Here's what I did to celebrate it ! https://i.imgur.com/Ix9da5N.jpg Yeah, I know its nowhere NEAR what a lot of you lot get, (cue 'Dick Waving' speedtest screenshots) but its plenty for me. Its Full Fibre to the house. Meaning I could upgrade to a Gigabit instantly if I so chose to do so... But that would be overkill for little old me... I used to have it thru the copper cables, and it was just so unreliable I wanted to cry. Sure, it was great when it worked and not a terrible speed, but it wasn't consistent It would drop to less than 1Mbp at random for like a minute and a half, then pop straight back up to 28 or so... This meant stuff constantly kept getting disconnected and some things didn't even recognise such low speeds as a signal, and switched off. (Ring Security Cam, I'm looking at you!!) But anyway. Hopefully this should be a consistent reliable signal now, cause even if it drops over half speed for some reason, everything should stay connected as it should :) |
congrats! whats that desert? some kind of sweet pudding ?

This is awesome. Now you can get 5 times more work done!

You have gigabit available and choose not to have it? :error

All my TVs can stream Netflix or whatever, at 4K without breaking a sweat, and my security system only needs a 2.4ghz connection with a minimal upload speed. I fail to see ANY benefit (To Me) to make me pay double what I'm paying now, just so as I see a bigger number on a speedtest? What can I possibly do at a gigabit, that I cant do at 150Mbps? I could always upgrade to 500Mbps if I chose too, with just the click of a mouse, but again, I cant find any reason to justify it. Am I missing something? Serious question, cause if I am, I'll upgrade :upsidedow |
A family can drag 150 down a bit, 500 no. Going to a gigabit is useless unless doing intensive work.

is that speed normal for your area ?
95% + of home connections are fibre to the home the min speed for fibre down here is 300 mbps are 100 mbps up and max speed plan is 8 gbps down and 8 gbps up |

Just had this offer show up after my first months use! Might take it actually, despite what I said earlier. I wasn't gonna pay double for 900Mb download, cause that's irrelevant to me... But to get the 110Mb UPLOAD speed... I think that could well be worth just an extra Ģ5 a month :) Plus, had I upgraded before this offer, Id never have received it and would have been paying literally double what I'm paying already !!! |
for us, itīs the upload needed, we pay 30€ a month and get English TV with about 100 channels on fibre, giving us a a 5G wireless 200mb up and 300 down, although, could plug in and get faster. Here in Spain, the cable fibre companies promise up to 1gb up and down if wanted!
https://www.speedtest.net/result/13557911729.png the upload is essential for our business, not so much the down :thumbsup |
Yeah, well as you well know, the UK is behind the rest of the world when it comes to internet infrastructure... :(
