It was Friday lunchtime at a high school in Sandbach, England, and the conversation among a group of students was bleak: teenage girls talking about their experiences of being sexually harassed on their way to school.

"I remember we were on a public bus. And the bus driver told us it was OK to take our tights off if we wanted to. He said he preferred it when we wore the old uniform at school and our skirts were shorter. I was 11," said Alice, now a Grade 11 student.

"When I was walking home once in my school uniform, I had a man in his thirties get close to me and say that he was going to rape me as he walked past. It was just horrific," said Hannah, also in Grade 11.

Hannah and Alice — whose names have been changed and ages left out at the request of their school — are part of the feminism group at Sandbach High School, located south of Manchester.

The group is petitioning the U.K. government to ban school uniforms from being sold in costume and sex shops and worn in pornography.

"When we were walking to and from school, on public transport, and we were in our school uniforms, we'd been catcalled, sexually harassed, honked at," said Alice. "And we kind of wondered why, and why people feel so entitled to, like, sexually harass schoolchildren and make us feel so uncomfortable."

The group's petition has now gained more than 13,400 signatures, meaning it has surpassed the requirement to receive a government response. But amid the chaos of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's resignation and a total reshuffle of the Conservative Party, no response has come within the usual 14 days.

They will be banning these films next.

Im honestly not one for censoring things but there is undeniably something creepy in it that i never understood. Not sure you go as far as banning it though. Saying that the UK banned female squirting on video so that lets you know how clueless they are

I'll stand up and say that I find a uniform in the bedroom to be quite a turn on. Not because I'm thinking I'm in there with a 9 year old or anything along those lines, but the uniform can remind me of when sex was taboo and exciting.

Think back to the first time you felt a breast, or the first time a girl let you put your hand up her skirt. You were probably school age then, no? It was thrilling, exciting, the unknown...

These days when a woman just asks 'Wanna Fuck?' and strips naked, sure, nothing wrong with that, but in no way as exciting...

The school uniform is popular. It may be more popular in England rather than other countries.

Banning the uniform, would not stop the problems that the girls claim they experienced in the article. I say claim, as this looks to be a feminist class, and it could be the teacher has influenced the students to feel things have happened when they have not.

School uniforms are very popular in Japan. I believe they've modeled the concept of using them from schools in the U.K.

Some people go through their whole lives going from one uniform to the next. Here at least, I think they're good for the child's developing mindset. Going bling bling with accessories and makeup are forbidden when in uniform.

High school girl uniforms I like and the models like them too. What is too creepy though are the elementary school uniforms with their little yellow Gilligan's hats. Very small actresses sometimes wear them but I think they're being phased out. Too creepy. Ewwww

I'll add the original point of #metoo before it became a contest for who had it worst was that ALL women and many men experience people being sexually creepy at them. The things that happened to those girls would have happened with or without the uniforms. It is just how the world is.

Yeah different strokes for different folks as they say. You wont find me judging anyone's kinks when they are perfectly legal. Its not just the uniform, iv never bothered with copper outfit or french maid etc. Public sex, especially girl/s down the woods flashing then getting their brains fucked out has been my thing for the past few years. Wont be everyone's cup of tea but that's how the world works
