House of the Dragon

Are you watching this? What do you think?

I have some quibbles with things like the hair work and years between episodes, but I'm pretty engrossed at this point.

Zuzana Designs 09-19-2022 03:42 AM

I'm so excited to watch it but have been so busy this summer. I'm hoping to make some time this weekend!

CurrentlySober 09-19-2022 05:33 AM

I watched a bit of episode one, but ended up watching the new Tolkien thing on amazon instead.

I may follow up on it in the future

jasonmarks 09-19-2022 06:30 AM

i watched all episodes that are out yet but i must say the lord of rings series is way better...looking forward to the jon snow series i guess that will be better

adultinnovation 09-19-2022 09:17 AM

It's mediocre compared to Game of Thrones. It will never be as good because Game of Thrones had a much more complex story line with tons of different characters and side stories.

The sequel to Game of Thrones will be the best one based on John Snow.

The Lord of the Rings series is a complete disaster.

Shoplifter 09-19-2022 09:54 AM

It's like a Korean drama with dragons. It's completely a ladies show, which is a good thing or else there would be no one watching it.

hottoddy 09-19-2022 05:18 PM

It's ok. The visuals and storytelling is fine. However, I find it hard to get into any of the characters, unlike Game of Thrones. After 5 episodes, the series now jumps forward 10 years and recasts most of the characters. It has a different "historical overview" vibe, which is interesting, but not quite as captivating as GoT.

... and yeah, some of the wigs are hard to believe.

It's better than the last season of GoT, less good than the rest of the seasons, and a million times more engrossing than Rings. I don't especially care if Rings is not canon, but the characters just don't have enough depth to hold my attention. So HotD probably worth making the time to try an ep or two anyway.

Totally agree that adds a weird history vibe. Given that additional seasons would be a plus for HBO, I don't get why they are rushing the story. Those long time gaps really decrease how much I care about any of the story arcs.

digitalfantasies 09-20-2022 12:49 AM

It's way better than lord of the rings which has nice special effects. But Lotr so far fails in the writing department which isn't nearly as captivating as it should be (it's getting better each episode though)

It's also on par with and potentially better than Game of Thrones, because game of thrones was on its way to being the most epic series ever, but couldn't keep its dick hard.

I'm enjoying it. Some badass characters starting to emerge.

I'm a lil frustrated that every time I get involved now, they fast forward a bunch of years and are on to the next thing.

After the 10 year jump last night, I turned it off and did not go back.

You are sitting there waiting for the show to get interesting, learning the characters, you just begin to see some potential... And bam, time skip. Now do it all over again.

Really disappointed in both series'. Was looking forward to both of them.

Yep I felt the same way about the 10 year jump. It made it feel like everything that happened in the first 5 episodes was meaningless.

cambeauties 09-27-2022 08:38 AM

its amazing

boziffous 09-27-2022 01:22 PM

This series is about the Dance of the Dragons. The episodes up to this point are just providing the background for this war. Once the Dance begins it will only span about two years (129 AC to 131 AC) where as the background leading up to this started essentially in 101 AC at the Great Council. Not enough happened from 101 AC to 129 AC to spend a lengthy amount of time on, just enough to set the stage for the war to come.

brassmonkey 09-27-2022 05:29 PM

id rather watch beaches twice jeezus

AmeliaG 10-17-2022 02:25 AM

So was the whole foot fetish for loyalty and favors thing in there before ep 9 and I only just noticed?

digitalfantasies 10-17-2022 07:04 AM

I would venture to say that most people don't

redsociety 11-16-2022 04:57 AM

Especially Milly Alcock was amazing. I would recommanded this series for everybody.

Vikki_VIP4K 11-22-2022 03:56 AM

I watched this show, I love it!
I recommend!

He has to be 🙄

Edited: excepted maybe for the last season of GOT. In comparison, HoD makes more sense.
But for example, I don't find that time is well managed in HoD.

I really wish they had aged her up, instead of replacing her.
