Just reminiscing back to my old life, in the mid 90s... Myself and my wife got off a P&O Cruise ship in St Lucia, and were under strict instruction to stay with one of the 3 different organised tour groups - & under no circumstances get in any taxis or go off alone...

Of course, we get talking to this little elderly rasta guy, whos just chilling on some rocks, and one thing leads to another, and we decide to let him take us for a tour, to see 'The Real St Lucia'...

Once outside the cruise ship compound, he takes us over to a little car, and we expect him to open the door and get in, but the door opens and a MASSIVE bloke that's built like a brick shithouse gets out and announces that he will be our driver! I look around for the little elderly Rasta, who has of course vanished!

Huge guy (who would not look out of place striding into a WWE ring for a heavyweight title match) says don't worry, he's gone to find some more tourists, and to get in the car... Now that was the exact moment when we had that feeling - Either we get in the car, and end up being killed somewhere, or... We have the fucking time of our lives... A bit like in the Matrix when Neo has to choose between to two pills...

Of course, being young and dumb, we dont considered the 3rd option of just returning to the compound (it's not like he's gonna physically force us into the car or nothing) so we just think, yeah fuckit, and got in the car...

Ended up having one of the best fucking days of my life with lots of wonderful people I would never have even seen, let alone met and spoken to, had I remained in the compound...

Infact, it was such a good day, that I'm still reminiscing about it now, and typing this to share it with you...
