On top of this I think they use software to stitch it, so it lets you move around the house. I think you put the 360 camera on a stand, then take the pic. |

Yes but it seems all those methods require buying specific equipment.

VRML could do it 20 years ago.

If it is just a one off job, pay someone with a 360 camera a few dollars to do it who lives near you. But you may find you can rent a 360 camera. |

Order a pretty decent 360 camera off of Amazon - Along with tripod etc, and anything else you need to complete the job - Distance selling regulations mean that you have a certain amount of time after receiving the product, to be able to try it out. Not sure what it is where you are, but in general its at least 14 days - I think that's the worldwide amazon policy. Open the box carefully, keep everything, even the outer box it came in - Use the camera for the project at hand - That falls 100% within the amazon 'Try it out' guarantee. When finished, pack it back into its original box, and return it to amazon - You've tried it... But... Guess what? You have changed your mind... No Harm, No Fowl - Not even a poo refence either... Im slippin'.... |
All the maps you know are flat. The 360 views make the photo appear as parts are stitched together. The image is still flat. This might interest. Have used java to navigate image on browsers.

I have a Matterport camera for doing just this but can also create the same effect with my Insta360 Pro.
LIDAR with a newer iPhone can also do something similar. |
