Trainspotting I still remember the 'it's shite being Scottish' scene by heart. "Some people hate the English, I don't. They're just wankers. We on the other hand are colonized by wankers. We can't even find a decent culture to be colonized by" :1orglaugh |
Trainspotting fcking awesome, good one Jesse. Have you (or anyone) seen T2 yet? I've never seen, is it going to be disappointment bigtime, or a must see?
I'll add one more, Clockwork Orange (1971) |

I came away with a 'Meh' feeling. It wasn't awful, it wasn't great. Would I watch it again? Nah... It was what it was and like Jesse said 'How can you improve on perfection?' Anyway, a few months ago, I noticed it had been added to my 'Sky Movies' package so I hit play... And I really fucking enjoyed it! Dunno what i was expecting in the cinema, but the story (on TV) just seemed to make a lot more sense. I had zero expectations (unlike at the cinema) and was able to just enjoy it for what it actually was, and not what I wanted or expected it to be... And what it was, was a pretty good movie tbh... So yeah, def worth a watch - Just dont have any expectations and enjoy it for what it is :thumbsup |

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) |
One of my favorite "old" movies (and I am using that term loosely) is "Three Days of the Condor" with Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway. My folks recorded it on VHS off of the TV years ago and I watched it god only knows how many times (we didn't have much for TV back then).

|
The Sting (1973)
Good Will Hunting (1997) And lots more will post another time lol |
How about these old "dark" movies!??
The Fly Scanners The Beastmaster and for the kids: Neverending Story Loved them all. |

just for the kids? nah man, a classic at any age. the subtext is universal. apologies to Matyko for not re-reading the book yet but that movie? just yes. incidentally free on yt. I don't feel bad occasionally rewatching it there as I burned through 2 purchased VHS copies back when I was coming up, around the time fire was invented on the 'dark' tip: Dead Poets Society another one, I was obsessed with this back in the day: Dirty Dancing a microcosm of class/social race/gender politics set to a wicked soundtrack? was so signed up from 1st viewing. I knew every single line and step from the backroom club scenes and was part of what shaped me in loving dance good times |
