Anyone got an LG QNED TV?

QNED is mini LED - Not quite OLED, but a bigger step towards OLED than LCD...

I'm looking at stealing a 55" one to replace the 10 year old LG 42" in my bedroom. Because its in the bedroom, its not worth going for OLED - But the QNED appears to be a better 'Future Proof' option, for the next 10 years or so?

Am I right?

Thoughts? Good? Bad? :helpme

During the Pandemic I went into a store here and saw a demo of Blade Runner 2049 playing on an LG C1. It was so different than the experience I was getting on my Samsung QLED that I didn't recognize the movie at first. I bought it on the spot.

The only advantage to QNED or QLED is that it will go brighter. But otherwise the OLED is superior.

I think I've decided on the model I poosted above. RicherSounds will let me se it and play with it before I commit and also give me free private parking for the day when I go up to see it - So that's a day out for me.

I was in 2 minds when I made the thread, but no one has said 'Dont do it - They are shit' etc, and its got really good reviews everywhere I look, as a nice solid 'Mid Range' model...

Like I said, I would have gone bigger and gone OLED if it was going in the lounge, but it really is just for the bedroom...

Plus, as a member of their 'VIP Club' I get a further discount on the price anyway :thumbsup

55 is really too small these days. I am on 75 in the bedroom and I am sorry It is not at least 83

Yeah it looks like a solid choice and Richer Sounds should be offering you the 5 year guarantee?

They dont actually have any review or write up on the one I've ordered on there :( But it did say it was just under £1500 at launch, So I've got a bargain :)

is this the model?
https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/qned80

BTW I have an LG from a couple years ago and I like it. Probably a similar trim level as that one. Reviews always seem to complain LG uses IPS instead of VA and have worse blacks but they seem fine to me.

Nearly that one - Its an LG QNED816QA

Like you say though, LGs are good TVs. All this 'Pro Review' stuff is just nitpicking imho... Its a TV, you watch a show on it - You dont sit there an inch from the screen saying 'Hmm this black looks slightly grey'...

Anyhoo - Ordered now :thumbsup

How is it then?. Missus wants a new 65 or 75 inch this year. I like Oled but find them super reflective compared to even Qled

Only got it up on the wall and running yesterday late afternoon, but so far, I'm really impressed. The stuff from the firestick (UHD 4K) that's supposed to look really nice, DOES look really nice, but I expected that, and would have been disappointed had it not...

What has REALLY impressed me though, is the 'Upscaling' of 1080p HD programs from the Sky HD box... I mean I heard about upscaling in the past, and tbh, it always seemed much of a muchness. Yeah, the HD picture looked a bit better, but nothing to write home about...

However, whatever the fuck this TV does to upscale HD content, is the fucking dogs bollocks! You would really think that you were watching 4K UHD content. Its THAT fucking good !

I found myself hitting record on a nature program earlier on BBC2 HD - Not cause I really want to watch a nature program, but because the picture quality was SO GOOD that I wanted to be able to play it when my Son comes round, and show him what it does with a 1080p signal...

Still playing around with the settings a bit, but so far, really pleased. Recommended :thumbsup

On Top of the above I'd also add that its also really nice to have some more modern features as well....

As an example when I want to switch over to headphones late at night, I just press a button on my headphones (on or off) and it switches across - Thats it - Dead simple - Then when I restart the TV later, with the headphones not switched on, its the sound coming out from the TV...

Sounds simple enough, but with my last one I had to get extension cord, plug in cord to TV, plug in cord to headphones, call up 'Inputs' on TV, select Sound Source > Headphones. Avoid the annoying cable Unplug everything at the end of the night so no one trips over the cable next day... But then the next day, switch on the TV to no sound and have to go Inputs' on TV, select Sound Source > Speakers.

Basically a pain in the ass, but just one of MANY things this new TV does flawlessly...
