Hall Pass

Just in case you're unfamiliar with the term hall pass, here's a little refresher. A hall pass is when people in a romantic relationship (generally monogamous) identify a dream person outside of their relationship — in many cases, a celebrity or someone equally out of reach — they wish to have sex with

It's a common thing to do jokingly so was wondering if you had a hall pass where if you met a celebrity or anyone you know - and could sleep with them without any repercussionw from your partner - who would that be?

I don't exactly have a Hall Pass for hern, but I told my spouse that if I had the chance, I would not hesitate to jump

A while ago my wife and I had this discussion her choice of course was Johnny Depp while mine was Selena Gomez. I had to think about it but felt if it was one night she'd be the best to keep going. That being said - the odds of that happening are none to none but did make for some interesting discussions for us.

Interesting that you pick 2 women who are best known for their roles for holding guns LOL Do I detect a little S&M play going on with this hall pass?

I think it shows lack of self-confidence or lack of faith in one's partner to have a hall pass for real.

How would you be so sure you (or your partner) couldn't get someone you appreciate as an ideal? At a minimum, actors and other performers often respond to their own reflection in someone else's eyes. Even if you are funny-looking.

The truth of the matter is that even by a long shot I met my hall pass I would still never do anything same goes for the wife. Though it is interested to learn something new about your partner and their tastes sort of like dressing up or cosplay in the bedroom.... nothing wrong with that.

There is no self confidence issue - and I have no clue where you came up with that - not everyone is wired the way for example you are in how you perceive things for example - a spank on the butt to one may be an assault in the woke culture while someone else sees it as playing around.

Over 13 years of marriage - 5 kids - having faith in the other partner was never in doubt at all. We work together extraordinarily and still maintain our deepest respect and love for one another in all things. I remember talking to a senior lady who'd been married over 50 years and asked, "did you ever once think of divorce?" she answered with "divorce never - murder yes but divorce never". Point was you work through any issue together - create a solution together so that after all the time together you've developed your soul mate.

So again - I'm not sure where you're head is at or why you would even suggest such things - but it doesn't always mean what you think it is. I have a saying I tell my kids - perception is everything - to a worm - digging a hole is far more relaxing than going fishing.

I get what you are saying about how it could be fun sharing the *idea* of a hall pass as a fantasy. I mean, I understand how various forms of open relationship can be fun as well.

The thing about a hall pass is both parties kinda have to believe they'd never meet their hall pass and their hall pass wouldn't sleep with them anyway, if the opportunity arose.

Or at least both partners have to be on the same page that they are both just fantasizing and would not act on it.

Living in Los Angeles for twenty years, I just knew or met a lot of people who demolished their relationship with a hall pass that maybe one of them thought was just sharing fantasies, while the other was making a plan that was absolutely going to be successful.

Alright well now I can understand where you're coming from - the majority (not a slam against you) do not have access nor rub shoulders with celebs regularly. In fact - Canadians' are known for simply leaving them alone to their business and being friendly.

The Hall Pass gives insights into fantasies which are healthy in most relationships that are secure - when answering "what is it about that celebrity that turns you on". We also admit to ourselves that of course there are going to be people more attractive than your partner in life - but knowing that beauty is not the deciding factor is comforting. Both partners know we'll never cheat - we love each other - our lives and kids to ever screw that up. It doesn't dominate our conversations - in fact we only talked about it once for fun after watching a TV show. Because that's what we do - communicate the good - the bad and the ugly.
