had to get a new computer : (

3K delivered, i7 16 core water cooled, 32 G ram 12G nivida card, 2, 500 GB electronic drives, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and network, win 11 home. ... thoughts? No, I do not build my own boxes, not since like 1993. If I remember, first box I bought was a P75.

Thoughts?

I've bought 4 other boxes from them in the last 20 years. No bloatware or ad ware, other than windows, that is. So yeah, I'm happy. My last box was an i7 4core with mechanical drives. I haven't received the box yet, however, I'm thinking I'll be happy. The price seems similar to prices 5 years ago???

Always cheaper to just upgrade...I just upgraded one of my computers a couple weeks ago for about $700

13700k
cpu cooler
16gb ram
Asrock z690 Motherboard
Corsair mp600 pro 1TB

reused my old GPU and everything else, upgraded from i7 2600k

In not into water-cooling and overclocking so i just use air, i actually undervolt all CPUs slightly. Water-cooling also seemed like a big hassle to me.

Why do you need such power.

I just use a cheap one that cost me (on offer) £120 laptop/tablet (windows).

I use an ipad to edit 4k films.

It's hard to break the'media box' routine, I guess... remember, I was a pro shooter for almost 30 years. I'm seriously considering a drone to shoot some activity and some scripted drama. I like to use 2 big ass monitors etc... that's the work flow I'm accustomed too

all my boxes burned up. I'm using some kinda i5 notebook that chokes opening a Word file or image file. I agree about the water cooling, that’s just how the box comes...

only issue i see is Win11. they take more control every version. the layout and functions are different in 11 too, trying to do an Apple OS thing.

Mac is AOL with a better name... win is bad enough, I don't care for the 'store' being in the start menu with win, no idea about macs.. the best thing mac did was out a command line in... I actually had a guy that worked a JPL tell me his mac had no code in it.. but in all fairness, he told me he had 10 piercings in his dick

electronic drives? like solid state?

with all that ram & the 12g video card, i´d have at least put in 2 ssd´s, you only need 100gb for your db & them the other at least a 1tb for content...

but hey, your show Grape :thumbsup

personally, we both run on windows, 2 laptops, the PC hasn´t been fired up for years. Mine´s just an i5, using it for live cam & social, Gary´s still on his acer from 2 year ago, i7, 4gb vid card & 1tb drive, although upgraded the ram from 8gb to 16gb, to cope with editing, does the job, but shall be upgrading to a new one soon :thumbsup

Yes electronic drives. I run one drive with the OS, the other drive is apps. I use a separate removable drive for content

Realistically you can edit with your phone. I prefer plenty of desktop

We are almost 100% Mac here. My team and I all use Macs (web development). Wife / Accounting is using Windows 10 because of something to do with Quickbooks.

My current machine is an M1 Mac Mini, connected to a 49" Ultra-Wide Monitor at 5120x1440 Resolution. It is a freaking dream setup. Super fast, and tons of screen real estate.

Lately I am having the most fun with virtual machines. I have My Mac is running Parallels so I can run Windows 11 in a window on my Mac. Surprisingly it is super-fast and stable. I have a couple of servers in my basement, and one of them is running Proxmox which I *LOVE* - I use it to run multiple virtual servers for testing, development, etc. What a powerhouse.

Gush, gush...

I decided that I want to buy a gaming rig this spring. I am torn between getting a PC with a big screen and the latest graphics card OR, just buying a playstation and the new VR headset. Windows has improved alot but I hate it when I compare it to Apple's OS/X, so since I just want a machine for gaming, I am having trouble justifying buying a PC.
