Does kitten feel if her mom lost?

Small kitten feels if his real mom gone? Does it make sense in his future life?

jscott 04-14-2023 01:50 PM

That's a good question, i think yes, probably a worse feeling of uncertainty or desperation if separated.
But if they find a better situation maybe it's something that can be forgotten and easier to move forward for them.

I don't know the psychology of cats/animals, but think they do have similar connections as humans would/should have with our own mothers.

Why you ask? have a situation?

Doing cats blog... Many videos saw

JesseQuinn 04-14-2023 02:49 PM

yes, I think they do. some get over it, some don't. we can't really know for sure when it comes to individual cats

my youngest was found on a streetcorner in Kingston when she was barely old enough to walk. her and her sibs rescued and brought to the shelter by an amazing human being and I adopted her from there. mom nowhere in sight

my ex was the one who actually chose her (I couldn't go to the shelter and pick one cat and leave the rest behind) but she was mine from day one

I've had cats all my life, from the moment I was born. my first was actually born on the same year/day as me (RIP Grimmy cuz I couldn't pronounce Greymalkin). aside from Bika I have never had a cat so fiercely attached to me

Grimmy was chill though, her mom was pregnant when my parents adopted her so she never went without. she was born in their closet when my mom was in the hospital giving birth to me. guarded me as soon as she learned to stand up and navigate the house. would attack anyone other than my parents or my fav aunt/uncle (that's where her siblings went) if they tried to touch me in my barless cradle/bassinette. followed me everywhere as I learned to crawl and then walk

but with Bika she's so bizarrely yet comically wackjob. not anymore in every way but she used to even bite my friends who came over if we got too close. thankfully not an issue anymore, solution was to hand them cat treats to give her when they come in. so now they're 'good people offering treats and scritches so I'll allow them to play with mom'

problem solved

that's how she rolls. solo I sing to her and pet her and play string game with her and her sister Scraps till she stops her latest manic episode. we all have our stuff, right?

Scrappy sits there in bemusement waiting for her turn, which she always gets. she's the sane one in our little fam. and she was rescued from the woods up in Northern Canada malnourished and weak as fuck but still was a wild cat til she realized she had a home

she's so chill (except for when I bring out the broom, some motherfucker clearly hit her in the past with something stick-like), but overall so calm I actually try to learn from her

I think some cats are just born with issues... all my cats have always been strays with a back story. one cat I had (I've written about him before here, I have his 'Piper paws of bad-assness' tatted up my wrist) was in such bad shape when I found him the vet recommended I put him to sleep. me and Piper both disagreed and he lived for 10 more years half paralyzed but pushing through life with joy and aplomb til the age of 18

and he never met anyone he didn't love

if, as J suggests, you're encountering a 'difficult' cat, embrace the insanity. play with him or her, lots of scritches and cuddles, never leave the food bowl less than 3/4's full (they might eat you if it gets to the half-way point), lots of treats in lieu of meals, talk to him/her and sing too. cats really like that. doesn't matter if you're off-key

my crazy one's fav is All Along the Watchtower by Hendrix

it calms her down like nothing else

but yeah, we all come with a past

love him or her, accept he/she isn't a blank slate. personally I think so called 'damaged' cats are the coolest, cuz when they love you it involves such a leap of faith plus well-earned trust. strong and brave little ones, those

pix please, and welcome to crazy MK

Damn. Your blog makes me really miss having a kitty around the house. I have thought about getting a couple of kittens and raising them. Then reality hits. Sleepless nights. Always worrying about them. Waking up in the middle of the night to the sound of shit breaking. Not being able to go anywhere for more than a day or so. Then I get all bummed out. I miss my fur babies.

kittens (not the 'all cats are kittens kittens' but real young ones) are terrifying

was so sure I'd accidentally step on Bika or crush her in my sleep...I'm clumsy and she likes sleeping under my arm and I toss and turn a lot, and as a lil one she was so quiet (lol now, she howls like a banshee as stripey cats are wont to do)

was so thankful when she grew up past the 'must try not to accidentally kill her' phase

get two grown shelter cats. have a neighbour or relative to take care of them when you travel or just take them with you. one cat per person for inflight carry-on. if you travel a lot get 'em a pet passport, for years I took my cats on so many trips to new countries. they weren't exactly pleased with the travel but liked the new adventures

the most expensive part is the vet check-ups leading up to flight but we're talking a couple hundred, not thousands. even if it's more than one cat per person and they have to go cargo. was like $300 each or such in that case, compared to less than a bill each inflight. vet bills like 1-2 bills depending on destination nation

in hotels don't even say you have a cat. long as they don't tear ish up who cares? I've done this so many times, and concierges stayed mum and brought them so many little treats

get a cat, or better yet two. older the better. not me but thank them later. they'll light up your life everyday

for real? no judgement but seriously, one heartbreak (I do not write that lightly, I know how it feels and I am so deeply sorry for your loss) and you're done? you have love to give, suck it up and get on it already. visit a shelter, or have someone do it for you

I don't spend 'all day wit kittens' but certainly fiercely love my own human mom and she and my babes are joy every day

I like everything/everyone cool and funny

human mom makes me laugh every day. and so do my fur babes and Scraps most of all. rosy parker is cool always too as if I care. she likes to lie full spread eagle just happy for tum tum scritches

wagging her fluffy tail and cherish her so until I have to explain this is what she does when feeling love, for idiots who she ends up biting if not down, she can be a little tyrant with the inept and I admire that

in a completely non-creepy way

but both are so gentle 99.99% of time

waiting for the sequel. get a cat!!

you know you'll have so much fun and be loved to no end

looking forward to you filling in the third pic
