I went to a cosplay and gaming event a few weeks ago
 

I got a press pass so I went to one of these events.

I presumed it was going to be people in superman and so on outfits.

What I found was adults and children walking around in fetish manga outfits, many men and women and children in those Japanese maid outfits, and a few furries.

It was rather strange.

It is one of the strangest things I have ever been to.

A lot just went in normal clothes and clipped on fake ears.

A walked around tables of nerds having arguments over the rules of some sad game they were playing.

Dotted around were groups of teenagers dressed in manga gear sat thinking they were cool. Basically a bunch of fat girls in manga outfits and boys in glasses sat thinking they were cool.

It was the first time I thought I was not the odd strange weird nerd. It is strange to find yourself not being the odd one in the room, but in fact the coolest one.

The thing is how some too themselves so seriously.

I have been to many events. A lot being connected to porn or sex toys. But this event was the one that was the strangest.

SciFi events are similar - I've been to a couple but at least I've seen the shows/movies and can understand the characters but it goes to far when people take it to seriously

going to one of those funny events has been on my list of things to do for awile.
