Alternative to IMGUR?

Most of your knows but just in case: Imgur not accepting NSFW content (anytime son I don't remember)

What's your go-to alternative to host pictures on post on forums and such?

Some people on Reddit are using https://www.redgifs.com/

I would suggest hosting them yourself, and having such as a 404 link and have it point to an affiliate link.

This way you control everything and the $10 a month to host is not much.

In time fewer and fewer will allow nsfw content, simply because people abuse the service by posting illegal content.

how do you get the direct links from galleries?

when it was allowed gfycat for adult, you used to be able to get the direct link via the api, might want to check if redgifs has a similar way to do it.

try imgbb, not sure if they allow adult, i think they do, check the TOS.

you can still scrape reddit, and hotlink the reddit links

you cant get the direct links as in hotink redgifs as if you view the api url it will have an expiry on the url, you can scrape it via url so you can grab the gif/mp4 to import into your system though, i have a private wp plugin that does that.

do you have an example please?

that is reddit scraping not redgifs.

redgifs has an expiry on the video urls. only way to use redgifs is by their embed code, or import the actual video. which is just a curl request to the current url and expiry, for WordPress its just a matter of importing that into your media library.

I dont think even 1 of them accept adult material

Okay I found four random pics of random models as a test, totally at random, and used the sites that worked/were free and easy to upload to.

These are in order of how good^H^H^H^H non-shit they were. IMGPILE puts a watermark on the image, which sucks but IMGBOX was a chore because it gave a URL for a useless thumbnail for some reason.

Postimage and IMGBB both drastically reduce the size of images for embeds, which may be an advantage sometimes, to be fair (I think it's better for posts like this on forums).

We'll see how long/how many of these images last before the host deletes them and replaces them with spamvertising.

[Useless - lets you upload then has a download limit. Ridiculous]

KEK - Didn't work for me. URL upload didn't do anything, normal upload just embeds a data URI in the page.

PUBLITIO - Doesn't seem to be an image host, or at least not like Imgur

FLICKR - Not practical. Always get a Bad Panda anyway.

IMAGESHACK - You cannot be serious.

I feel like a saas where you actually put your s3 bucket and host your own thing could be worth it
