I thought Torrent sites made money?

RARBG Torrents , films , download

Hello guys,
We would like to inform you that we have decided to shut down our site.
The past 2 years have been very difficult for us - some of the people in our team died due to covid complications,
others still suffer the side effects of it - not being able to work at all.
Some are also fighting the war in Europe - ON BOTH SIDES.
Also, the power price increase in data centers in Europe hit us pretty hard.
Inflation makes our daily expenses impossible to bare.
Therefore we can no longer run this site without massive expenses that we can no longer cover out of pocket.
After an unanimous vote we've decided that we can no longer do it.
We are sorry :(
Bye

similarweb shows 3.5m visitors per month

no idea what RPM looks like on torrent sites but at 3.5m visitors/month its hard to imagine their revenue was much more than $10k/month

plus, almost no google traffic. almost all direct/referral traffic. bad for RPM

doesn't seem sustainable to me unless its a one-man operation, which clearly it isn't based on their statement.

It may not be purely financial, their might be some legal pressure too.

Not with the bullshit mainstream style of monetization all of them use.

One time I tried the Hosted Tube, sent 2mil+ organic visitors from SEs (uniques, not page views), I made $80 on ads.. :/

most of the private torrent sites make money on donations for more credits

I haven't used or even thought about a torrent site in about 13 years. Does Pirate Bay still exist?

yup, piratebay still works great

i much prefer streaming services these days because the video quality and subtitles are better, but I keep a couple hard drives worth of torrented content for internet/power outages and traveling. video quality and subtitles are hit-and-miss but torrenting is really the best/only option for DRM-free media.

Those who don't care are those who profit from it = useless shitbags that never created anything, just parasitizing on the works of others.

everyone gave all stuff away for free instead of making people pay for it

I remember when pay site tours used to have CENSORED images on them

because you were supposed to pay to see the uncensored. makes sense right?

there is no relation or similarity between uncensored samples on a paysite and complete downloadable scenes on a pirate site.

good try tho :thumbsup

torrent sites didn't destroy the adult industry. Tube sites with tens of thousands of full free videos on them did

ok so maybe only 3% of thieves got their content from torrents. a majority of freeloaders got their content from tubes => which got their content from the thieves who shared torrents.

all that content got from the paysites to the tubes somehow. it wasn't from owners uploading their entire libraries. anyone in the chain is complicit.

It doesn't really matter where the content on the tube sites comes from.

The problem is that it's there and is easily available for anyone, on any kind of device.

And also how google favor such sites over regular sites.

The initial tube sites got their content from wholesale ripping of adult DVDs, not from torrents.

I'm old enough to have started by submitting four page free sites to Persian Kitty and Greenguy, and it was always obvious that piracy in itself was never the problem. The problem was the race to the bottom business model of giving away more and more for free in the hunt for traffic rather than sales.

back around 2010 i tried a campaign to shame guys who wanted free porn. the banners and tour said premium porn is better. i posted here, xbitch, and others. it was unpopular. everybody was already milking the tube titty.

so here we are now folks :1orglaugh
