In recent years we have had posts often from those in the USA that accounts of porn people were closed.

I am not sure if people in porn in the UK have had accounts closed.

However in the last few days many with political views in the UK have had bank accounts closed and a huge fuss is being made.

The belief is that banks are closing accounts because of political beliefs, however it must be noted that it could be they are closing accounts because of money loundering rules.

Indeed one reason those in porn may have had banks accounts closed is that porn has had a belief that it is connected with money laundering.

Now I have a feeling things may change and banks may not have the right to do this soon.

It is worth keeping an eye on this as the UK seems to have main branches in London, so if they bring in new rules, this may affect those in the USA.

Again, the backbone of this seems to be the regulations of money laundering.

A few years ago we (as in the international banks) had been found to have allowed money laundering and so regulations were introduced.

However it seems they are closing bank accounts with ease.

I suspect why those in porn have had bank accounts closed is because they have now been deemed high risk in money laundering, rather than the banks being anti porn.

I suspect because people are now publicly stating they are having accounts closed that something will happen very soon.

While you may not be from the UK, what happens I suspect will affect you regardless of what country you are in, basically as banks are international, and one suspects.

Indeed, even if you are outside the UK I would recommend that where you can you voice the problems you have faced.

But as I say, what is going on, may affect us all.

In Holland this is a hot topic. People regulary see their banks being closed. That is cause of money laundring rules. It cost the bank to much to check everything, they rather dump clients. Also cause if banks make a mistake, the government will fine them.

Expats and locals are getting a lot of troubles lately. There was a case where somebody crowdfunded 10K for a surgery. Bank wanted to know where the money came from and blocked his account. A person had to show where he spend his money on he got from the ATM?! Friend of mine paid rent with his credit card, he has to show the bank the rental contract. People transfered 5000 euro to another bank and also their account got closed. Someone took his money in cash, cause afraid of the war, also his account was closed. Cause normal people don't use cash they think. Cash could be used to buy weapons they think (used as an excuse). And many many more cases. The Dutch Consumer organisations are already ringing alarm bells. More and more people can't even open an account.

In Holland the government wants now a pool with data with all transactions above 100 euro. The government already sees how much you have on your bank account. Now they want to see how you spent your money.

This has everything to do with control. Freedom will be gone. Government decides when, where and for what you are allowed to use your money.

The big criminals won't be affected. But the normal people will. And the government and banks see everyone as criminal, not as client.
